That was beautiful, Beth. Your grandmother saw the other side, she was blessed that day. And she did live to an old age. I've heard people talk of this before, they can't all have dreamt it up. I'm sure she went with a smile on her face when it truly was her time. I loved this story in a poem, my friend, well done and good luck! :)) Sandra xxx

This is beautifully written and I feel your grandmother would be very proud of it. The message is of great importance because it gives hope to others and helps diminish some of the fears a lot of people have about when their time arrives to leave this present world. Smiles and blessings!

I hope my review will help you climb the All Time Best ladder. This is a beautiful story told in a near perfect poem. The spiritual message is one to which we all should take heed. I noticed one small thing:
They'd came to say ==> They'd come (they had come)

I've heard such stories and I believe them. My youngest son never had a story like that, but he did tell me several times that he would die young. He insisted we watch A River Runs Through It together. He said, "I'm like the younger brother. I'm going to die young like he did." I believe some people have that gift of vision. In different ways, your grandmother and my son. This is beautifully written. Hope you win.

Thank you so much Susan, I imagine your kept hoping he was wrong about dying young. It really hurts to lose a child, but I'm glad this world is just the temporary place, and we have the promise of so much more. I'm so glad you liked the poem.

You outdid yourself here. This story is so fantastic and your images are
So clear and rhythmic. How wonderful this remembrance of your
Grandmother is.
You did a magnificent job recreating the entire scenario, using different
Voices, and painting the entire picture of her life.
Kudos, my friend, Bravo!
This definitely is a winner.

Thank you. I'm so glad you liked this. I don't expect to win but I enjoyed writing it. Grandma used to talk about this often. It left a big impression on her and made a difference in the way she saw life. I felt the story deserved to be told.

First, the image you chose for your writing is breathtaking..I really like it. Next, the poem is so truthful and well written. The rhyming is awesome; none of the rhyme words were forced. They sounded so natural as it told the story. Great job.

Hi Beth, what a beautiful and poignant poem this is. Your grandmother was strong willed and knew that her time was not quite up. What a clever lady. Of course, you wouldn't be here now had she succumbed to her illness. A joy to read. Ulla:)))

Good entry, Beth. I hope you win it. Not really sure if people are strong as they were back then.Strong, I mean grounded in the word as she was and taught. My blessings to you.

Thank you for the review and six stars. I think in those days they spent a lot of time in Church. That was their social life as well as religious foundation. They were probably very close to God.
Don't forget about the chapter you bookmarked.

Knee deep in editing Grain Of Wheat for publishing. I spoke with Hallmark, and it is not needed because they are changing their style. Otherwise, don't call me. I will call you a thing. I suppose self-publishing is next.
Thanks for the reminder.

The author's words are lovely tribute to her grandmother. The words
are descriptive, interesting, caring and creative. Thank you for the author's notes - I liked hearing the history. I really loved the last stanza
which says so much about her faith. Hope you are doing well....Maria
