Was it Ronald Reagan who said: "Trust but verify?" These two make a wily pair! On the one hand, I thought perhaps they'd be on the same page...
(I suppose it is possible Darryl is playing dumb regarding this gold.)
On the other hand, true to your fine twists, it could well be that Cynthia and Darryl are opposite sides of a very shady coin! (A crazy metaphor, but I hop you get it!)

Good morning, my sweet
My apologies for answering and thanking you so late. I had to cut and paste for many (which I hate doing) but I was 158 reviews and 46 messages to read plus all the six-star messages (oh I was so blessed with those) and I am drowning. (LOL) Must be the celebrating or just the age!
I saved your reviews and now I am going through each one and checking to make sure I didn't miss any important suggestions. Thank you for enjoying this chapter.
Love you and sending you lots of smiles (they might be a bit droopy) and ((hugs)). Always, Carol

Wow! In the future please feel free to not answer replies...or just a "thanks" and then PM me when you have time. I do NOT want to hold you up! Believe me, I know what it's like to get behind and it can be overwhelming! Your life should take first place...then your writing....then (if you have time)--replies to reviews somewhere down the line....

Carol,
Awesome stuff. And I had no idea I was SO far behind. Life is really crazy right now and I'm not sure how to stop this merry-go-round. Ugh.
Back to this story. It's clear to me that you either know everything about everything or you're doing gobs of research. I think it's wonderful. On to the next!

Well, girlfriend. I thought you'd ditched for better pastures. I am thrilled to see you smiling face. I knew you were far behind, but didn't realize it was quite back to 25... you've got some reading to do and so so so much is happening. Smiles, Carol

Is this the same barn that burned, several chapters later? I can certainly think of someone who could have a motive to do that. Cynthia is such a snoop!
I wasn't looking for errors, but nothing jumped out at me :-)

So sorry... I answered a whole page of reviews, hit save, and they vanished with the crash of my computer. Just know that I appreciate your review and enjoyment of the story.

It's terrible when things like that happen. Casualties of the digital age... but I'm glad you kept moving forward!

The suspense continues and the way you write the dialogues takes the story forward. I wonder why Darryl has spilled everything to Cynthia. She will definitely be going to take advantage of the info. I like the descriptions of the winery. Good going!

He really didn't tell her anything, but things he made up (not the truth). he just needed time to stall until he talked with Hank and Garth. I am thrilled you enjoyed the winery.

The suspicions continue to grow with Cynthia and Darryl in this well written chapter. You do such a great job with your characters. And your dialogue as always is well balanced and flows between your characters naturally. Another great chapter!

thanks so much Shirley...Question: Do you feel I use too much dialogue in my stories? should I do more telling than talking?
Just checking how my readers feel. Thanks...Carol

I love the dialogue you place in your stories. Your chapters are well balanced in my opinion.

Hmm. I was suspicious of Darryl and his connections but Cynthia is suspicious, too. Seems like Darryl is keeping things tight-lipped from Cynthia which may be good for Liz and Allie and Cassidy.

No Darryl is a good guy...though some thought otherwise because of past mistakes. Jack had faith in him and it worked. Glad you enjoyed the chapter.

Excellent writing, but I am dismayed that Darryl has shown Cynthia everything! Also that there is some-one with whom he needs to talk! Doesn't sound good, although it may be about the child, and protecting her and her family. On edge now till the next chapter!

I put you on edge...great! awesome that you enjoyed the chapter..can't wait to see your next reactions.
Question: Do you think I use too much dialogue? Should I do more narrative talking instead? Just trying to get a feel on how the readers like the style or not.

The dialogue is fine. There is not too much. You have a good balance.

Hi Carol,
I am far behind but decided to jump ahead and read the other chapters later.
This is rather a surprise with Cynthia being let in on Jack's surprise. She still has her hopes of buying the winery but is not quite sure it will happen when Liz sees the surprise. There's a lot for me to catch up on. It is a very well narrated tale.

Cynthia's brain is now trying to figure out how to get the upper hand again without spilling too many beans. She's a conniving woman. Hopefully, someone gets their hooks into her.

I'm getting back into the story and it is so interesting. Bob would give it a thumbs up.

I hope so! He really did offer great suggestions though at times I think he wanted me to write more his style...but it was fine.... he helped me a lot

It seemed that Cynthia knows about the gold and Daryl doesn't, which throws a mysterious spinner into the works, and I'm wondering if this will come to light, muddying the waters more than they already are, it looks like you don't mind that at all. Beautifully written Carol, as always, blessings, Roy

This is making me even more curious about Darryl. I'm wondering who he needs to talk to so quickly. I didn't think he was in on the night the cars came in with no lights to bring in Jon's sister. He seem to be tryint to keep Cynthia for learning about the people in the cottage. I'm waiting to learn more. You know to keep up wondering.
