Enjoyed your well written spiritual haibun. We can all relate to the weary traveler as we walk this road of life. I like that he is in search for the Lord's tomb because it's Jesus' victory over the grave that gives us life. I also liked that he lived "with only his Lord for shelter." That reminds me of Psalm 90 - the Lord has been our dwelling place through all generations. Best wishes in the contest!

I think you personalize the spiritual journey here, as you have Christ appear as a human being with compassion and love. Love and compassion personified. After the long struggle of the journey, He welcomes home the pilgrim, with a personal welcome. This individualizes the experience of meeting the Savior. estory

What a beautiful picture you have portrayed of the path of life. With the hand of the Lord leading us every step of the way, the end is something to look forward to. I like your closing lines:
"the journey of life
follows a winding path home
where the Lord awaits"

Oh my, that brought goosebumbs all over me! That was amazing, if you don't win this contest, something will be really wrong. What a lovely, lovely story, Mike, it was just awesome. That he was sitting next to his Lord Jesus just blew my mind. Wonderful, my friend, I can't praise this story high enough. Well done and good luck!! :)) Sandra xxx

This combination of haiku or senryu and prose is known as a haibun. It is not a form with which I am very familiar. Gypsy Blue Rose is the expert on Oriental stuff but this seems to be the sort of thing required.

This is lovely, Mike. The statue in the picture certainly has taken a beating . It make me think of the fact that life is that hard at times, but the faithful will stand strong and tall until they reach the end of the journey. Good job. Good luck in the contest. Nancy:)

Hi, Nancy. I'd say that statue is 80 years old, at least. Thank you for your kind words!

This is lovely. We must remember to keep the faith and hang on until the Lord returns, which I think/hope may be sooner than we think. I like the thought of meeting with an angel to guide me on the path.

In times that seem to be filled with never ending challenges for all, evidence of the second coming is near. But oh what a relief to know that before it gets its worst, we will be taken. God bless, Mike!
