This was very cute, it is amazing to think that people eat all sorts of rodents and insects, I do not judge because I have never starved, and would imagine desperate times call for desperate measures.

Thanks for reviewing. Different cultures, different food. I'm sure I'd eat whatever was available if I were starving (except my cat).

I like this kind of twist to a story. It seems to be a non-fiction piece, which wouldn't usually have the surprise twist - so good job on working in the surprise. This is a fun story. Best of luck in the contest!

Excellent entry for the 100 Word Story writing prompt contest. Well written and follows the contest rules. It's hard to tell a complete story in 100 words but you managed well.

Funny story about strange food overseas. The ending was funny and a good twist.

Well done! Good luck in the club

Reading this story has brought my tummy to a standstill. It is a feeling of nausea after you wrote about some of the foods that were considered a delicacy. I'm glad we live in the United States.

I want to continue to eat what I'm used to. I am picky in many ways, but not my American food, except for wild meat or fresh milk and butter. I'm 72 years old and I've never been able to stomach it. You did a great job, and I enjoyed the read. Shirley

Thanks for your review. Some stomachs are more delicate than others. I enjoy trying different food - I love spicy exotic food. At 69, so far no problems with digestion.

Whew. I envisioned a cat gutted and boiled, slabbed to a plate with chop sticks at the side, and a water dish to wash one's hands, and then... your finish was divine. I am of the opinion the cat was alive.?

I assure you, no cat died in the making of this story.

This story has the perfect content and format for a short Flash Fiction piece. It is well-written and was extremely satisfying to read. Good luck in the contest.

You made me smile here as I thought the cat was the dinner, but the cat was eating the dinner! Ha ha ha, a clever and entertaining short story, much enjoyed, love Dolly x

You did an excellent job with this one hundred word flash fiction story. You gave backstory, built in suspense, and had a twist at the end. All you needed was a little dialogue. Alex could have announced, "I'm going to the restroom." That uses the same number of words as "He went to the restroom." Bottom line...this is a great story that should do well in the contest. Best wishes.

This made me laugh. I liked the twist that the cat wasn't the dish itself, but was eating the dish. This was a fun story in 100 words. Thanks for sharing.
