This is an excellent story for the eighty word flash contest.
Many on fanstory will relate to the story and ending.
Explaining to children can be difficult, you've done well.

Well written and edited.

Jane is six years old, and she heard about Jesus her entire life.

I would remove this line as it makes the rest of the 'story' seem odd. Why ask such questions, when you've heard about Jesus your entire life. You would know.
