This is a very sensitive story of forgiveness and remembrance of times that have been cherished deep down from youth. In the face of illness a brother can bring you some joy. Thank you for sharing and good luck with the contest.

Hi Brett,
This is very well done. These short pieces can be very tricky indeed but there's a lovely feel to this one and it feels complete.
I think this one will do well. It should do.
All the best

Thank you. However, I never seem to get past 1st Base in these contests. Will see if this time is any different.

This was a very sweet piece of dribble flash fiction. I can't imagine going that long without seeing a sibling, but it sounds like they picked up where they left off, so to speak. Thanks for sharing.

Wow, proof that a story of few words can be just as gripping as a novel. The saddest part being all the time missed between visits. Thanks for sharing. Sorry I'm out of stars.

I think you have left this a little ambiguous - quite cleverly. Was the brother already dead and the person seeing him as his own death approached? Or was the brother real and he pressed the morphine button sufficiently to manage the pain enough to have a happy reunion with his living brother? Best wishes for your entry.

This is a sad story. I see it is fiction. It seemed real. So the brother died. And if this were true, it would be sad. I liked the picture. The colors are vibrant. Thank you for sharing. I enjoyed reading.

You've told a whole emotional story using the perfect fifty words, for this dribble flash entry, Brett. Beautiful, as is the picture you chose. Good luck in the contest.

This is good flash fiction. I assume the brother had died 35 years ago and the narrator dies in the story as he pushes the morphine button. I hope I got that correctly.

Brett Matthew West what I read in only 50 words, left me with sorrow
