Well done - a great Nocturna, and I like the journey you trace through night, paralleling it with your faith and peace, and looking forward to the gift of each new day.

Thank you I loved the introduction to the Nocturna style of poetry.
Comment from Monica Chaddick
This is a very good poem describing the night. It is well written and it flows well. I miss seeing the stars. Now there are so many security lights and such that you can't see anything. Best of luck in this and all endeavors.

Monica, Thank you! I loved the introduction to the Nocturna style of poetry.
Comment from Anne Johnston
I love your poem. I love how we can lay our heads on our pillows at night in confidence and trust because we are a child of God. He watches over us throughout the night and wakes us refreshed for another day.

Comment from Carolyn Dooley
Yes, while we sleep, the world keeps rotating. They say we are rotating faster. However, we have no way to fix things God created. We are in his hands. He knows what is best. Day after day, night after night, we must live and do what is right, if we intend to join him in Heaven.

Carolyn, Your comments are so spot on! I am unable to find the words that would give you the knowing of how very humbling your six star validation makes me feel.
So Thank you will have to do it ... THANK YOU!

If only I had six stars, this poem would have an EXCEPTIONAL rating, for sure. I loved everything about it, from the theme to the three-line stanzas, linked by the rhyme in the center line. Are you the creator of this form? It is most appealing but I don't remember seeing it before. Anyway, I love this poem and now I'd like to try one also. Thanks for the inspiration. MM

Miss Merri, this was a Potlatch club challenge ... below is more information on the poetic style, Jim
The following description is reposted with permission from The Poets Garret, with thanks to Terry Clitheroe.
Nocturna
The word was first used by Christians and was a form of night prayers Later appeared in the 18th century and was derived from the French nocturnal and was usually music inspired by the night and played at evening parties. During that time poetry was also recited.
The painter Whistler used that name in some of his paintings, they also had a night theme, which in turn inspired Chopin to write his well loved Nocturnes.
Comment from Janet Foor
I'm not familiar with this poetic form but is beautiful and you did a nice job with it and the peaceful message was a comfort to read and contemplate.
Very nicely done.
Blessings

And what a beautiful and beautifully written poem this is. I will admit that I'm not familiar with the form, but that is not so strange as I don't write poems. I enjoyed reading it though. Ulla:)))

Flawlessly composed! What is not to like about this wonderful poem? There is such sweet peace in knowing God is watching over us! How perfect to write a Nocturnal with this theme. Even your chosen image is phenomenal!

Nicely done, Jim. I have not seen that rhyme scheme too often. Doesn't look like you got much sleep that night. The eighth line is outstanding.
