Hi author, you celebrate a fine Thanksgiving in the true spirit of the Holiday--Giving. Your poem reads and flows well, and I got hungry just by reading it. Some of my best memories are/were of my Mom making Thanksgiving dinner. As this is a contest entry, I wish you good luck.

Why only a good review?

This is a good entry to the Thanksgiving Poem Contest. The text is a nice size. The message is clearly stated. The rhyme scheme is okay.
I would drop the poem about two spaces down to balance it better in the poem box. I would hit enter a couple of times after the lasr sentence to have more space in that area. The visual fits perfectly. Good luck in the contest.

Ciao poet, you have your first vote.
I agree that family reunions with close and extended members are heartfelt events.
What I don't get is why 45 million turkeys have to be slaughtered for Thanksgiving. (another 22 million for Christmas and 19 million for Easter)
Personally,I think these money-making breeding farms should be closed. Let the poor turkey live its life in the wild.
Ciao!

Thanks for your wonderful reviews. I have a poem in a contest now

A nice poem for the contest. It emphasizes the simple images of a thankful Thanksgiving and creates the mood of a Thanksgiving celebration as well as service to the less fortunate.

This poem rhymes well except that the near rhyme 'homeless and fuss' at the end is a bit forced. You could have swapped the two last lines around and made homeless rhyme with unselfishness instead. Also the rhythm is a bit odd in places. For example in the second verse the last line would have been better as simply 'spreading cheer' without the and.
Nevertheless it is good description of Thanksgiving so good luck with it.
