This was brilliant, Gregory, and congratulations on the well deserved win.
I lost so many family members, including my parents, and their spirits and presence are still there, in the places they lived.
This poem really hit home for me. I almost felt like my mother was coming down that staircase and was going to say hello.
I am very much impressed and a bit haunted by this poem (smile).
Warmest wishes for the new year.

Get a puppy from a kill shelter. Save a life. You'll see, they'll make very grateful companions. It doesn't have to be a puppy. It can be a young dog - you'll have less work breaking them in. But every day and even as we speak, a dog is waiting in the shelter for a gas chamber.

Hi Gregory,
What a sad and lonely looking house and words to go with it. Maybe someone will come and give it love and rehab it.
Congrats on winning the contest.
Keep writing stay healthy.
Happy Holidays.

This four-line poem, Memories Upon a Wall, has the proper formatting and creates scene where the past still lingers in the presence of hung reminders that people were happy here once, and never meant to leave.

Thank you so much!

This is very well-written. I love the short 'a' assonance in 'glass cracks.' It definitely incorporates both visual and feeling-type sensory images. Counted all your syllables - looks good to go! Good luck in that contest.

I love this post Gregory, you've 'cracked' the code on cracks in glass having dust settle in the once impervious surface that glass has, but with cracks, just like we humans have, beautifully written, blessings Roy

This is a great image to open with - an abandoned home long forgotten and in need of repair. Then your words, which reflect that - perhaps their lives were also shattered like the frames remaining on the walls. Why weren't they taken?
Interesting poem - thanks for sharing and good luck with the contest.

This four line poem describes well the house in the picture and even without the picture the poem paints a sad picture of house no long used and almost has the eerie feel of one that may be haunted.

An abandoned house is a sad thing that no longer keeps alive its memories.
Great to see you back here again. It's been too long since I was reviewing your somewhat less than totally blissful youth.
Have a great Christmas.
