All these years later, you are still heartbroken. I'm so sorry for your loss. I can only imagine that each Fourth of July brings fresh grief.

I am so sorry for your loss and this is such a sad story about your sister who died of some kind of addiction. Your words are sensitive and memorable and I can understand that emptiness that you are left with when grief takes over. What a wonderful tribute to your sister. In a way, it is fitting that one so young die on the Fourth of July as her life was like a rocket, as brief in the long term, as a skyrocket. That's a wonderful and accurate comparison.

And I have the distinct impression that you understand the nature of addiction that addiction is not the person and the person not the soul within. She is home happy, healthy and smiling, She knows she will see you when it is your time and will be the 1st to greet you then.
My condolences on the loss of your sister and pray you look peacefully and happily until you meet again.
