LOL - I love the twist at the end. A good turn around of you getting your way, or thinking about it at least. This is an amusing and entertaining poem on the use of the garbage disposal. It is confusing knowing what is acceptable but... thank goodness you have a wife on top of it all :-)

It's gotten so that we hardly use it for anything except little scraps in the sink. Thanks for the good review, Diana.

Always a pleasure reading your poems Jim :-)

Ha ha ha, this is a fun write Jim and I loved the humour, as I don't have disposal unit I just put everything in the bin! It seems the easiest solution! Ha ha ha, but nothing is simple when it comes to sharing domestic chores with a man! This is entertaining, love Dolly x

I'm finding we're putting more and more in the bin these days. Easier than consulting a list each time! Thanks for the good review, Dolly.

Jim, I enjoy your self-deprecating humor. Taking something as simple as a garbage disposal do not grind list and making it a funny is commendable. No sure why coffee grounds, potato peals and egg shells would be on a do not grind list. Maybe you should grow a garden, those things make excellent compost. Please don't grind your wife, but if you must the movie Fargo has some good ideas.

You're right, but I'm too cheap to rent a wood chipper. I don't think I'll grind the whole wife--might really clog the disposal. Maybe just that sharp tongue of hers. :)

I enjoyed this humorous poem. The last lines about grinding the wife in the disposal was funny. Thank you so much for sharing, and best wishes to you.

I decided that's a bad idea. Might really clog it up. Maybe just her sharp tongue!

I started thinking like that little boy that was told off incessantly by his mother, (my wife is not really a nagger) I learned to turn off in the end, you know, like the teacher and parents in the Charlie Brown series. Beautifully written as always, blessings Roy

Thanks, Roy. I would never put my whole wife down the garbage disposal. It might clog it up! Maybe just her sharp tongue. :)

I never did hsve a list. I used it as it was handy to get rid of garbage. I thought anything organic besides meat . LOL
No worries now, I have a septic tank. For a long while I had farm animals. Even now I save some things for my daughter's chickens. Good humor, well done, Jim. Nancy:)

Thanks, Nancy. We find we are using ours less and less now because of all the things that seem to clog it.
-
Maybe you need a new one. LOL
-
Yeah, probably so. It never has worked right after I put that old bat of a first wife in it. :)

LOL I couldn't help but laugh. Our garbage disposal isn't one that works very well anyway. We compost most of our things anyway, so why mess with it. LOL Your poem is cute and very creative. I wouldn't suggest grinding your wife in the garbage disposal though. Probably not the best idea or as one of my sons says when he disagrees with one of my ideas, 'Mom, let me know how that works for you.'

Thanks, Barbara. Yeah, I probably wouldn't put her whole body in there. Might clog it up. Maybe just her sharp tongue!

I nearly ruined a Thanksgiving one year because I put potato peels in the disposal and ended up with the pipe underneath coming apart and spewing food and water everywhere.
I can't imagine that she calls you an imbecile though, lol!
Another very funny rhyming poem:-)

Oh, I've been called worse!
I once put squash pulp and seeds in there, and the same thing happened to me. And we have a heavy-duty one. The dang thing is so heavy, I didn't have the strength to lift it up and reattach it and had to get a burly plumber out to do it!

I can relate to this story as I became fearful of the piercing glare I would get when something not meant for the grinder somehow found a home in the dark hole. I found myself looking for that approving nod before any scraps were shoveled down into their death.

Sounds familiar. I never knew you weren't supposed to put eggshells in there until a friend told me. He didn't know why not, though.
-
it jams the blades and burns the motor out. But go ahead and grind up strawberries. haha
-
Got it. Strawberries, huh? Were you instructed not to grind those or given permission to?
-
haha

This made me laugh out loud. Terrific job in every way. You also hit on a topic I struggle with, what I can and cannot put down the disposal. Lol...adorable and fun! Love the illustration too.

Thanks very much, Kerry. I think a lot of those rules are made by killjoys who just like to make up rules.
