Thank you so much, Chris, for your lovely feedback and generous star rating! I'm happy you enjoyed my poem :)
Best wishes as always, Debra
Comment from Gloria ....
Excellent subject to a senryu/haiku poem. The painter's apron contains all the colours within the painting which makes it something of a mysterious key to understanding the whole project.
Wishing you great luck with the Contest Committee. :))

Hi Gloria,
Thank you for your kind feedback and good luck wishes - shame I entered a senryu and not a haiku for the HAIKU contest LOL!! (I blame the menopause!)
Best wishes as always, Debra x

I have always kept my aprons and the rags I wipe my brushes on, and framed them up as works of art in their own right. I have one rage per painting and it fascinates me how they change according to the painting's subject. kay

Hi Kay, what a great thing to do. I guess they tell their own story :)

You are very welcome, Debra. I am enjoying your poems.
Comment from Gypsy Blue Rose
Excellent senryu entry for the Haiku contest. It's a senryu because it deals with human experience not about nature.
I like the presentation too. Concrete images easy to visualize.
Good syllables count and connection between lines.

Hi Gypsy :)
Thank you for your kind and encouraging feedback and for not deducting stars!
Helen (lyenochka) also kindly pointed out my error :)
You're both right - it's definitely not a haiku!!
I have to point out though, that the contest requirement doesn't mention anything about what actually constitutes a haiku :/
Best wishes as always, Debra :) x

Hi Debra! Good for you for hopping in ~ and you have plenty of time to catch up! This haiku is a reminder that every artist, at least upon his or her "apron" has a hint of Jackson Pollock in them. (smile). In my case, every painting seems to remain at that stage! Nice to read your work. I'm way behind and thus picking one or two from everyone I can to review!

Hello Karenina :)
Before we broke up for the easter holiday, we were doing some artwork with the kids inspired by Jackson Pollock, also some different artwork inspired by Wassily Kandinsky - we've had so much messy fun with all those colours!
Thank you for your great feedback :)
Best wishes as always, Debra x

Great painter to inspire Kiddos to "express" themselves so freely! Hope your Easter was great!
Comment from lyenochka
Wouldn't it be funny if the abstract art of the apron sold for more than the painting? Great little 5-7-5 or senryu. I think a haiku needs more of a seasonal reference but the satori ending is there.

Hi Helen :)
Thank you for your feedback.
You're right, it is definitely more 5-7-5 than haiku!

Sometime ago I wrote a story about using the paint palette that I was using to do some painting and how good it looked like a piece of modern Art. I enjoyed your poem very much, and I wish you the best in the contest.
