This is very good. I am glad I went in search of it. Ava is doing a good job of making friends with the horses and goat. The situation is believable and well written. This promises to be a good novel. Is it for young adults or for adults?

Hi Carol Hillebrenner,
Thank you for going back to read this previous chapter. I appreciate the kind comments about the writing. Hmm. I just wrote for the joy of it so I'm not sure if it's young adults or adults. Great question. I'll have to give it some thought.

Think first of the age you will give your heroine. If there will be no romance, only a girl and her horses surviving, it is probably a young adult. Young girls love the idea of having a horse. I did, too, until I got to ride all the time.

This is a very well written chapter and I love horses and goats. You used great descriptive words and very good imagery of the horse picture. I enjoyed reading and reviewing this. I saw no errors. love and blessings, Teri

Oh my, four horses and a goat! Ava is certainly glad to see them. It does help distract her knowing that she may be their only chance of survival. Another great chapter, Debi. Great job keeping the reader intrigued. I look forward to reading the next one!

Yes, it is a great distraction to keep her mind off of being alone. I appreciate the comments about wanting to read the next one.

This is a delightful true, or fictional story, Debi! I can't imagine how hard this would be. One or two horses at the most. A goat? What a wrangler or horse whisperer she is.
Sending you my best today as always,

This is an intriguing story. I'm wondering what on happened to the other people but I glod the horses are going to be left on the ship. Since it the ramp is down it much mean the other people have exited earlier. I enjoying the story.

A compelling read. I felt for the horses as you described their feelings: nervous whinnies, excited neighs. I followed Ava's movements
as she searched for an escape route. I guess horses can't swim?

Hi Shari,
Yes, horses can swim. Some of them like to, others panic.
Thank you for the analysis and the reactions to the writing. I appreciate the encouragement.

Nice image and story to go with it, Debi. I enjoyed reading it and seeing your expertise with horses at work here. Ava was very comforting to the horses, and did things in small steps, explaining everything. They are very sensitive animals, and didn't want to be left alone.
I was a little worried about elevators being workable when a ship had been left, especially at the end when she thought she had a way to get them off the ship.
Ava is also very organized and methodical in the way she allocates the food and water to the horses and goat, although he seems to be on his own for the moment. I hope the elevator/ramp works, and then wonder what Ava will do with the horses. I'm sure you'll have something figured out! Well done, my friend.

You are very welcome, Debi, I appreciate your reply. I think Ava will do a good job dealing with the situation, but I imagine there is a lot to go before it all works😊But there is the goat who can provide a little kick to the story:)

A faultlessly written chapter once again! This is a fully engaging story of escape from a cargo ship after discovering these horses on board. The rapport between the horses and the writer is a touching one and I enjoyed their personification in the story - also the addition of the goat. All seems to be going well by the end of the story. Thanks for sharing Debbie

I liked this a lot, debi. This is the first chapter I've read, and I'm going to have to go back now and catch up. You really caught my attention with this one. It was very well written and exciting, and I loved the way that Ava talked to the horses and understood their needs, and they appeared to communicate with her as well. I guess we'll see how that goat comes into play. Good chapter. - Jim

What a lovely tale. The way you give the horses such endearing characters is so sweet and Ava's desperation in trying to save them is shared by the reader. Thank you for sharing this.
