This is certainly intense. You have created a potential catastrophe for the horses and of course the goat. I am rooting for Ava to come to the rescue of this frightened creature. She is certainly doing a good job up to now. I think you have also showed the strong survival instincts of these horses and their equally strong herd instinct. Loren

Debi.
Sorry it took so long for me to read your post on horse #4. I've been busy with work.
You created nice tense moments on the transport of Hermes to the beach. Now all four are together.
Excellent post,
Cheers,
John

You sure know how to make your story believable with your spot on horse mannerisms. You had me thinking back to a time when a shipper was running in place and snorting on a small plane, and that was under sedation. I could see that plane flying apart in pieces. LOL. Thanks for sharing.

HI Ric Myworld,
It's nice to have you recognize the mannerisms of the colt in this story. As for your comments, I can't imagine how nervous I would have been on a small plane with a horse acting up like that. It is amazing how some of them can override being sedated. It certainly keeps life interesting. Thanks for sharing.
Have a great week.

It is a relief that the horses are all down without and injury. I just curious as to what happened to all the people on the boat. I find it so interesing that the elevator still works but I wonder for how long the power would remain on. I'm looking forward to more.

Hi BethShelby,
Yes, it's good the horses are out. Just the goat to go. Your question about the people will be addressed after that. I appreciate your encouraging comments.
Have a great week.

Very nice artwork, Debi, and thanks for the notes. I enjoyed reading the chapter and how you incorporated mythology into it. Mythology was never my strong suit, but it worked well here for the names of the horses.
Your attention to detail is excellent. It's like you paint each scene and we can see it develop on the canvas. We can feel the nerves of Hermes in the elevator, and cringe with each bold leap he takes to get off the boat, wondering if he is going to break a leg. But Ava has a way with each of these beautiful creatures. The dressage imagery worked very well, as well as Ava's observation about whoever would be lucky enough to train Hermes.
I also like the scene with Apollo in the ocean catching the waves. I didn't know a horse would go that far into the water. Ava's plea at the end brings us back to this desolate place and what she was going to do with these animals. The last line is appropriate. It takes us to the last task Ava has with the animals, but I'm sure there is much more she is worried about.
Well done, my friend!

Hi Pam,
Sorry for the delayed response, This week has been crazy.
Thank you for the six stars to brighten my day and for the kind comments about the writing and choice of artwork. I especially appreciate the specific areas you note.
As far as horses and water: Most horses like water. They are natural swimmers, probably because they have huge lungs that keep them afloat. Like people, some horses like water better than others, but most of them will go into the water and don't seem to worry about it when they can no longer touch the earth. Maybe that is why Poisedon was created with their creation.
Have a wonderful weekend.

I am truly enjoying this story. I especially liked your description of the colt's reactions as you headed to the freight elevator, and could easily envision him prancing in place at the top of the ramp. Each horse reacted differently but exhibited a level of calm under your expert control and guidance.
Dressage is a beautiful dance by a horse and its partner. I've watched it many times on YouTube. Across the road from my house, I used to watch a trainer practice dressage with horses. The horses already seemed to know what to do. It was beautiful. I'm sorry to see that land is currently overgrown and up for sale.
I'll be waiting to see what the goat does.

Hi LJbutterfly,
Thank you for the encouraging comments and stating what you like.
I agree with you about dressage. I admire it, too. And a well-trained horse can teach a new rider how it is done.
Thank you for saying you'd like to read more.
Have a great weekemd

You got 'em! Good work.
And the colt wasn't near the trouble you'd feared.
I had to look up the word 'revel(s)'. I didn't know that it was also a noun. Interesting.
Best wishes.

Hi Wayne Fowler,
Thank you for the kind review. My present horse had a sire named Revel so I guess I got used to hearing the word.
Have a great week.

Hello Debi,
Hermes, horse number four, provided a chapter as detailed and interesting as the previous three horses. You certainly like those Greek names. Perhaps there is a reason that will emerge at some point. Next there must be a Greek name for a goat. :)
When they're all safely on land, Ava will have to see about making it through the night safely. Of course she has Greek gods watching over her, so she should be fine.
Well done.
Best wishes.
Robert.
