Mothers most always think they know best what's good for their children, and yes, if a little meddling will swing things their way they won't hesitate to throw a kink in your plans. LOL. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you Ric. After what she did to me, I vowed I wouldn't do it to my kids. I was so angry with him and then when I found out it was her I was angry with her

I'm glad things worked out even though Mom crossed the line. I am sure she thought she was being protective, but sometimes children need to make their own decisions and reap the consequences good or bad.

Thank you for the review. Yes, Mom was sure she was doing the right thing but she hadn't anticipated my reaction and I was so mad because I thought he had stood me up, I was really to go out with anyone I could find. IF she hadn't admitted what she had done I would probaby have messed up my life with a looser.

It is awful being betrayed by someone we trust and especially a member of the family, although your Mum thought she was protecting you here, a fine poem, well written and rhymed with good metre, much enjoyed Beth, love Dolly x

Thank you Dolly, Mom always thought she knew what was best for me. My reaction surprised her.

I'm sorry you had to go through this. I can only imagine how frustrating it must have been to have one's own Mother do a thing like this. But I'm so glad there was a happy ending. This was a well-written poem!

Mom always thought she knew best. That time she realized she made a mess of things and finally admitted what she had done. I might not have forgiven her if she had made me lose him. I really appreciate the review.

That saying "mom always knows best", I guess didn't work in this particular case.
Beth, your poem told the story in excellent rhyme and cadence. Nothing was "forced to fit".
Nicely done.
Enjoy the day.

Well, if she hadn't admitted what she did, He wouldn't have contacted me again without an invitation. He thought I knew about it. If I lost him she would have missed out on a great son-in-late and would have missed a long happy marriate. Thanks for a great review.

I hate to admit it, but I used to read my daughter's diary. She was in middle school and struggling with anxiety. It was how I found out what was really going on and why. I never interfered, and she has never found out that I read her private thoughts, but it did help me to form conversations with her that needed to be had.
At least your mom righted her wrongs, and everything turned out well.
Another fun, rhyming poem, Beth. I really do enjoy your poetry.

Thank you Pam. It is very tempting to read their thoughts when you know they are going through a bad stage and won't talk to you. I read some my daughter had written on a paper once and left it her room. I was horrified and turned out she had the lyrics to a rap song. My grandmother read a note a girl in class wrote as a joke. She asked me when Ed and I planned to elope. Ed was this half retarded ugly school bus driver we use to tease each other about. My grandmother showed it to my mother all upset thinking it was real. Thanks for the review of my poem.

What is the saying? The road to hell is paved with good intentions?
How horrible that she thought she had the right to interfere.
What was worse she went to him without discussing with you.
Best wishes

Thank you Mary. Of course she knew if she asked me I would have somehow stopped her. She thought she knew best. He thought I knew she had gotten in touch with him and thought maybe I was allowing her to break up with him because I couldn't do it. If she had never confessed, I would have lost him and I would missed 61 wonderful years with a really good man. Thank you so much for the great review.

Oh my goodness, what an awful situation. I hope it didn't permanently mark or mar your relationship with your mother. It would have been devastating for your husband as well. Best wishes for your entry with this fine poem, well rhymed and with smooth flow.

Thank you Wendy. Mom always thought she new better how to run my life than I did. I had to let it go, but I was pretty sure she wouldn't do that again. She hadn't expected my reaction. i was angry with him for standing me up and I was ready to go date whoever I could find.

Oh no! Moms ought to know that sticking their noses where it is not welcome is always going to backfire! Thank goodness she didn't cause a total breakup! The truth would have come out eventually and I don't know many daughters who could have just forgiven THAT!
A great poem that leaves me aghast at the lengths some moms will go to "save" their daughters!

Thank you Karenina. I think my mom learned not to do that again. She hadn't expected my reaction. I have a friend it did it to two or her daughters. She wasn't invited to their weddings not was she welcome in their homes.

I can see that happening. I'm glad it all worked out for you!

Ooh. This is a big over-reach. I can understand a level of concern about who our children date, but they must be allowed to love their own lives and (even) make their own mistakes. Sometimes the very people parents think are mistakes turn out to be winners in the long run.

Thank you for a great review. I think she realized pretty quickly that she had made a big mistake. I was was mad with him for standing me up and I was really to just go date anyone I could find. She was scared to tell me what she had done but she knew she had to or I was going really screw up my life.
