Hi Debi,
Your poor daughter! I can't imagine the pain she must have had, trying to deliver a baby at the same time she was dealing with a diseased appendix. It shows you, sometimes doctors guess wrong. Also, many times, we are our own best physicians.
One line in your author notes made me think that your daughter lost the baby...
"So I guess the fact that I didn't lose both of them was the biggest part." Is there a better way to say this?
My son dealt with a diseased appendix early in 2023. The doctor was treating his issues for a year as if he had kidney stones. It wasn't until his lower abdomen swelled and he developed a fever that the doctors in the Emergency Department decided it was his appendix. They operated, and it was a mess down there with leaking fecal matter. He was in hospital for a week recuperating.

Thanks so much, Kimbob, for those notes at the end about your son. Isn't that awful? You are also lucky that you didn't lose him.
I wrote a series of three stories about a gift I received from God. My grandpa had it too. God worked through me three times within a few years where I had to go straight on and battle doctors and each time ended with them apologizing.. they are called "Saving Bridget, Connor's Story and Mel's Pregnancies" was the last one. I have had many miracles in my life, but these three were obviously God's work through me.
And thanks for verifying what I should have changed earlier since it didn't feel quite right to me, yet it helps so much when someone else points it out.
I changed it to where it is now clear about what happened.
Thank you for all your kind comments and being such a good friend!

I can understand after reading your notes why it was a great experience. I found it emotionally hard watching my daughters in labour, but for you, you saved two precious lives by listening to that voice. Well done Debi and blessings to your daughter and grandson.

Valda, thank you so very much for the lovely comments about my poem about my daughter and baby.
I know what you mean and how cool is it that you saw your grandbabe being born. It is hard to see them go thru what we did but I knew I would probably never see one again and this was my baby giving birth to her baby. It was super-amazing.
I knew her pain tolerance and something was wrong afterwards, but the stupid doctors thought she was just having problems with after birth and I could not get the nurses to listen. Finally one snidely said,, what is it in your professional opinion should we be testing for. And you know Valda, God put the words in my mouth because I didn't know. I said, a ruptured appendix, so they tested to shut me up. And in ten minutes they were rushing her into surgery.
The nurse lost her job because I complained to the authorities about the rudeness we encountered with her. I wrote about this in a short story called, "Saving Bridget." Thank you again, sweet friend and also for the awesome six stars. Lotsa Love, Debi

God was definitely watching over everyone. Your joy is wonderfully expressed in this intimate poetry with such a happy ending.
Harking back, both of the labors with my two children were just two hours each. I should have been a pioneer woman! :0)

This is very well-written and heartfelt in its sentiments. After reading about the scary experience in your author's notes, each line is even more insightful. I'm so thankful God illuminated your mind and spared your daughter and grandson through you.

Hi Debi,
This is a well told story in a poem of mono-rhyme quatrains. You were lucky that you listened and brought them in. I am glad they are both doing fine. It must of been neat to cut the cord. Was her husband there?
It not I bet he is sad he missed it.
Keep writing and stay healthy

-Your notes are appreciated.
-When there is a new mom and baby, I
think we are guided to know what is wrong.
-This is a wonderful story with a wonderful outcome.
-I'm sure it took some doing to get the doctor
to listen, but he did.
-You wrote a very good poem with effective imagery and rhyme
to tell this wonderful story.
-Thanks for sharing it and the notes.

Fortune was apparently with you on that day. Angels smiled upon you. I am glad that your family were blessed with joy rather than sorrow. That was a touching poem.
