I am so behind in my reviewing and am trying to catch up a bit today. This chapter is another good one keeping the story fresh and moving along.
The only thing I can suggest is to edit this sentence so that the word had is not used twice close together. It is a power-draining word:
The fireworks display had ended and almost everybody had left when Emma petted Ace.
Congratulations on your forthcoming novel! Smiles, Lily

I read this last night in bed, trying to keep up, but I'm finding it hard at the moment. It's nice now to see Seth and Emma are openly showing their feelings, it should save Emma a lot bother from other men.
I wonder what science teacher has been making meths? That is lethal stuff if they are making it for adicts to drink.
Congratulations on your published book! :)) Sandra xxx

An excellent chapter that covers a number of issues. It begins well with the activities and he fireworks, but the real fireworks came a bit later. It has to be difficult when someone is involved with a police officer. It has to cause a lot of worry for the person he or she is involved with. I was hoping Emma would get home okay so that worked out.
It sounds like a very serious issue that Seth and others in the department have to deal with. I thought it was going to be Charlie Michaels since I didn't know what he did, but he isn't a teacher. Seth's comment about the note making sense after tonight is intriguing.
Emma has a good idea of pursuing social work.
A couple of things in the following:
a master's degree in social working. That way I can work with troubled teens. To be a 'Community In Schools' worker a master's degree is required.
I would say degree in social work. I would re-work the sentences that follow to reduce the number of times 'work' is used in these 3 sentences.

Charlie Michaels is the sports store manager who donated the gift cards for the July 4th celebration. I will work on that. Thank you for the suggestion. I appreciate the help.

I picked that up in the notes. You are welcome for the review and the suggestion.

Congratulations on your upcoming publication, Barbara!
Another great chapter revealing how Seth and Emma are able to adapt to one another. Seth supports her career goals. Emma understands his police job and that means sometimes she'll be without him because of work.

Congrats on your new novel nearing publication! I am continuing to enjoy the unfolding relationship between Seth and Emma and the fact that she is continuing to do her own thing and flourish with no co-dependency. I feel there is more to learn about the science teacher in future chapters.

I guess it's always good when you canine buddy takes up with your boyfriend/girlfriend, not that it's so good they'd rather be with them, but at least you know they are good people. Dogs have a better sixth sense than humans. :-) Thanks for sharing.

Great work, and congratulations on your publication. I'm excited for you. I have so much catching up to do I don't know where to begin. I enjoyed this chapter very much. It sounds like Seth and Emma are about to make it official. She has grown up a lot, and her plan to get a degree in social work is a good idea. I hope the drug note isn't going to mean more trouble ahead. It's something that will have to be resolved before things come to an end. Best of luck to you. judi
