This chapter is undoubtedly, awe inspiring! I love the way that the characters actually have a personality rather than just a stagnant name in a story. I also love how you've brought faith into the story! Death is a very hard thing but Heavenly Father is always there to guide us. I know I've come a little late into your book with this being chapter 32, but I'll have to check out the previous 31!

Very nice artwork and chapter to go with it. I don't imagine this was easy to write, but the characters have had a chance to think about their feelings and express them so that is very helpful. I like how immediate family and a few close friends were in the den and it was a good place for Emma to go, as well.
You also do a good job with all of the emotions the characters are feeling. Each person deals with grief in his or her own way, and you do a good job of showing that. Friends and those who like to help are in the kitchen, and people always like to bring food. The family and close friends needed to release some of the emotions they were feeling, so they weren't ready to be sociable and probably didn't feel like eating, either.
For people like Seth and Jake, they had responsibilities at work, but that didn't preclude being available if either of them was needed. Very well done.

This is a really great chapter. You used very good realistic dialogue, and it made me think of the times I had lost loved ones so very close to me. You used great descriptive words and very good imagery from your words. Thank you for sharing! love and blessings, Teri.

Well, this is a sad chapter and this line: "I'm scared and angry with Dad and God. Dad was my anchor. I feel empty and alone, abandoned." reminded how I felt when my dad passed away in 2019. He was my anchor too... it took me over a year to be myself again.

Poor Emma. More on her plate. She's had a whirlwind of life handed to her in thirty plus days...
Consider :
"Duh, of course. After she fell asleep...
to me I don't see Seth responding with the word "duh". It really stuck out with me.
Oh, I have no issue with the 2800 word post. This would have been tough to find a place to split it and would have lost done glow in the story,
Well done.

You have dealt successfully with most of the emotional quotients in a death situation. First the shock, followed by sorrow anger - angry with God and angry with even the departed..Hope Seth's presence is enough for Emma to reach the acceptance level...

Sounds like Seth is doing his best and I'm glad that Emma actually asked him to stay. She really needs his calming and comforting presence both as a friend and as her future husband. They have certainly been through a lot in the last 33 days!

This was difficult to read as it brought back memories of the loss of my own beloved father, but I loved Seth's constancy and support for Emma.
I noticed one little spag issue - flair instead of flare. Lovely writing.

You touch all the major themes involved with death in this chapter; the feeling of anger at God for taking away someone you love, a real test of faith; and also how much we lean on the people around us for support in times like this. The feeling of being unable to go forward; we see Emma here frozen, unable to eat or drink, to deal with people. That feeling of being unachored, lost, unmoored. Somehow we have to find the strength to live on. Seth is there for her. estory

This was a sweet, sad chapter, especially for Emma who seems especially vulnerable now. She's had a lot of trauma this past month with all the attacks on her and her dog, and ex-boyfriends hanging around, and now her dad passes away suddenly. How much can one poor soul take?
My only problem is with Pastor Pat and Jake, feeling it's their responsibility to encourage Emma to stay with her mother for a while. She is a big girl, capable of making the right decision for her and her mother at this time and it doesn't seem like she should have to be manipulated in any particular direction. I would think she would come to this conclusion herself if left alone by meddlers, and if she doesn't, there's probably a good reason why. I think they should stay out of it except to give Emma and Susan support.
Seth was great through this whole chapter, and supported her in every way he could, including his explanation of God's role in this.

Jake and Pat feel toward Emma as if she's their daughter. They went into Dad mode. We'll some more of it. LOL Thank you for the kind review.
