Hi Debi,
I haven't reviewed (or written) anything on this site in months, but when I saw your name and the title of the piece, I couldn't resist.
First things first, this is very well-written, even though it probably won't surprise you I agree with almost none of it!
I'm not going to take issue with the bulk of it, as I don't think this is the place for a theological debate, but I would like to correct some particular factual errors. Whether you want to make any changes is up to you :)
1. Almost no scientists believe the universe came from nothingness. A singularity is the most popular option, but there are others. Religious apologists like to propagate this straw-man, but it's simply not true.
2. Only a small percentage of scientists have ever tried to disprove God's existence. A great many don't believe in one, but that's a different thing. Most scientists are too busy in their own fields to concern themselves with God.
3. The swamp scenario you describe isn't what atheists describe as evolution. It's what both theists and atheists describe as abiogenesis. Evolution is what happens after. Also, I think you're mixing evolutionists and atheists. You don't have to believe in evolution to be an atheist. Additionally, the majority of Christian believers (especially scientists) believe in evolution, not a 6-day creation. Fundamentalists tend to favour the idea the Earth was created in 1 day, the universe in 6 days, and both are only around 6,000 years old, but they are in the minority.
4. Scientists who believe in evolution are NOT in the minority. Approximately 95% do. If you Google The Steve Project, you will find that there are more PhD holding scientists in the world with the name "Steve" who accept evolution as fact than all those with any other name who don't! That's how much in the minority creationists are.
I know you will most certainly have been told otherwise, and I don't expect to convince you, but I've at least tried to set the record straight.
What I haven't tried to do is dismiss your religious beliefs or question your faith.
Have a great day, and keep on writing!

CD, debating this with Dr Ed Young and his associates may be a hard sell. I doubt he would have any problem setting you straight with his proof and facts. I'm not being disrespectful but your facts are outdated. debi

No, they're not. Anyway, the writing technicals were good :)
-
No disrespect meant, CD. I think highly of you.

Hi Tom, I was kinda wondering just the other day why I never hear from you anymore. I don't venture out very far and have to pay out of pocket because I only review a little and that is to pay back a few that are always here for me.
Gosh, are you not getting my notifications though?
I am sorry, but I didn't understand what you meant about Wayne? About what without his knowledge? And what about a piece inproffered by the the title, in the beginning? I'm sorry, Tom, but I am lost.
I wrote this after watching a church service on it on Sunday's, "Winning Walk" with Dr Ed Young. So please explain what you mean. And by all means, google this man's Sunday's show to see what it was all about, as I have it in my notes that I got it from a church service. I appreciate it because I am so confused on what is going on and if it has something to do with you or Wayne F?

what a wonderful, true story. Believing in our God keeps a person going; if we didn't believe in Heaven, life would be tragic. I'm so glad that there was a cancer-free diagnosis for you. God Bless You Always.

Dearest Rosemary, thanks so very much for this lovely review and comments. I have been so interested as they have been talking about it more in Church. The other research I did on my own. So I appreciated what you said about my cancer miracle and all of your kind words, my very dear friend.
Love, Debi

Oh Debi,
What an amazing piece you've written. Your prose is amazing, my friend! You are eloquent and flawless. You made your point and supported it with your opinion and evidence. I love it!!!
I am a scientist, and as such I appreciate your bringing up that the word, Scientist, does not mean atheist as so many think. God is here, He made the world, however He made and He's generous enough to give us clues so we can get a glimpse into the majesty He is.
Much love to you, dear,
Rhonda

I knew you were into science, and that makes sense but I never got that you were a scientist. Were all science teachers, scientists? That would make sense though. Wow, that is really cool. Was there ever a time where it would feel complicated to be a Christian? I am so interested. Thanks so much for the kind review and comments. They are so Appreciated .

Hi Debi,
Before I was a science teacher, I worked in medical research as a scientist. My degree is in Microbiology. So, I'm both. But, yes, I'd say all science teachers are scientists, at least those who take their jobs seriously.
Awkward? Only once when we had an atheist Biology teacher. I started out debating him, then just gave it up. All he wanted was to pick a fight. I had other interests than fighting with him. Most of the time, it all flows together. We can talk about it later if you'd like.
Hugs,
Rhonda

I would love to do that sometime. Thanks Rhonda.

Hi Debi, I don't have much interest in the Big Bang theory, but your story is well written. All that I know is that the world and man has evolved, but before their was something, there was nothing, and God created that "something." Thank you for sharing. Xo. M

This is excellent writing on the subject. I too have seen many miracles. My mother was an example like yours. She was told she had terminal cancer and she stopped treatment. A year later, no cancer was found. She was a person of great faith. I've seen some unbelievable things myself. I think miracles are more common that most people believe.

Beth, thanks and that is amazing about your mom too. Wasn't it your mom who also had musical tinnitus or am I thinking of someone else? I am so interested in this topic, but because of my eyes being damaged by shingles (I mostly use audio for it) But can't get enough of it .Thanks so much for the kind review and comments. They are so Appreciated. Love, Debi
-
I have tinnitus, but I wouldn't call in musical. It sounds like cricket or something frying. It gets louder at night so I keep the TV on all night to drown it out. I can ignore it most of the time but it make it hard to hear soft voices.
-
That is what I must have been thinking about. My tinnitus always is pounding in my ears or ringing but at night it plays music. I was so afraid people would think I went off the deep end if I told so I went a year keeping it to myself and finally googled it and told my doctor and it is real. Google it once. Another thing is that once we were at a restaurant with our best friends, and I was talking to Patty across the table and the guys were doing the same. I never heard one word they were saying. But when I got up to go to use the bathroom, I started to hear their conversation just like they were in the bathroom and I knew everything they said. And our table wasn't anywhere near the table. It is part of the brain was listening in on them even tho I didn't know I was. Strange, huh?
-
I can understand the music because I have heard music at times and never figured where it was coming from but the voices? I can understand you continueing to hear the sound of his voice but to know what he said when you weren't there doesn't sound like tinninus. It sounds like you are psychic.

I've always thought that science and religion should work together, not, as it seems, against each other. There are so many mysteries in the universe we will never uncover. I believe in God, I really can't see how everything could've just randomly popped into existence without something behind it. An excellent piece, Debi.

Also I wanted to tell you why I haven't been reviewing you. But normally I don't do long prose, chapters, etc,I have a limited time on the computer or iPad and that usually doesn't hardly take care of the thank you's. If you would let me know when you start something new, that would be great. Also would you mind giving me your birthdate? Love, Debi

Hi Debi, no worries at all. My birth date is 13th July 1995 :)

Thanks so much, Jacob

Wow, that was powerful! Satan has imaginative ways to spread lies and hate concerning the creator of the world. You were able to take both science and the power of a personal testimony and leverage truth against those lies. Thanks for the personal story that complements The HIStory.

I find creation to be so fascinating as well. I kind of don't get the Christian to have a problem with the concept of a big bang and the result being exactly what's the scientist say it is. I know it's called the gap theory between verse one and Genesis one verse two. But I'm with a Christian to say in the beginning God created the heavens and the Earth first one and the Earth was without form and void verse two it certainly doesn't say that nothing happened after it was created until Adam and Eve. I think that God said let there be and it was a big bang and then everything took off. I'm of the opinion, like others, that Satan ruled and rained here on this earth that was created beautiful and the destruction came at his rebellion before verse two. I've heard it said and I agree with the sentiment that God doesn't create chaos or create without form and void. I don't know, but I believe the world as we see it today is a reclaimed earth and a lot of the geological information comes from a time before our repurposed earth.

This was wonderful, Debi, and so beautifully written. There are so many powerful parts to this write, but the sentence that really struck me was "You cannot recreate creation." That is an incredibly profound point.
Just lovely, my friend.

Awe, Jess, you are so wonderful. Thank you so much the lovely words, reading and reviewing and for your gracious six stars. I did something a little stupid and waited towards the end of the month to post this. I should have done it earlier. But I appreciate you so much. Thank you with all my heart, my lovely friend. It is good to begin this morning on a positive note! Indeed life is filled with miracles for those who believe in miracles -- I am one of those believers. I have lived a rather charmed life filled with love, support and compassion. I have a deep faith in the truths made evident to me. Thanks for sharing this post. Such things are needed in our society today -- and always have been. ann
