Delightful!
I don't see the obelisk, but the fact that you went to so much trouble to get to it and find out what it said, and then entertain us with this story, means it must be there somewhere.
And the first thing that came to my mind, as to the writer, was of course, a leprechaun!
A very enjoyable piece.

To be sure, to be sure! What a lovely, cheering review. Most generous and very much appreciated. Cheers, Terry.

This piece is such a vivid snapshot of a unique moment. You paint a rich picture of the rugged County Clare landscape, and your curiosity about the unexpected glint really pulls the reader in. The contrast between the desolate beauty of the Burren and the solitary obelisk is striking.
The way you describe your reaction to the plaque's inscription is delightful. I can almost see you laughing and shaking your head in disbelief. The humor of "absolutely nothing happened" is a perfect surprise twist that adds a charming touch. Your final remark, "Only in Ireland!" brings the story full circle, capturing the whimsy and spirit of the experience.
Overall, it's a fantastic blend of travel exploration and personal discovery that leaves a lasting impression.
