Carol that is a great story. So often God moves in mysterious ways and only by looking back can we sometimes see the amazing things He has done. Beautifully written. Good luck in the contest. Esther

I enjoyed writing the story and felt very good about it. I am thrilled you enjoyed it as well. I appreciate your thoughts.

Your story is one of faith, and might even show, "Out of the mouths of babes..." It is a proof text of understanding how faith can move us closer to God. The ending is satisfying and fulfilling.

Thanks, Robert. i do believe in the power of prayer and having faith that God will be there when we need him. Maybe not i the way we expect, but in the way he believes we need him. Thank you so much.

Ciao,
I like to believe that when unpleasant incidents happen it's for a reason.
In that moment we don't understand but our Holy Father knows better.
And sometimes we become an instrument in his hands.
Your story was captivating, I sure didn't expect the drifting puppy, a lesson to be learned / a truth to be told.

Thank you so much. I have had many tragedies in my life and I must admit there were times I cried and asked why....but in the end I leave it in the Lord's hands, knowing that in good time I will understand.

A very fine flash fiction that gripped me from the start. My favorite line was: "Earl shook his head. He didn't have an answer for his daughter, but he relied on his faith and trusted that they would be saved in good time." We truly need faith.

I like that line too! Remembering that we might not know the answers but the Lord does and he will give them to us when the time is right. Thank you so much.

Great story. And very well told.
God's ways are sometimes very difficult to understand. And sometimes not meant to be understood in this life.
Best wishes.

This is a very appropriate story for a time when so many people have been driven from their homes by storms and rising water. It is a well written story with a lot of heart as the child saves a puppy.

I feel so bad and helpless for those who have had to face the destructive elements time after time. I felt like I had to add a little hope into our thoughts. Thanks, Carol.

As you know, I could relate to this story. When I saw water on my floor, I imagined what would happen if it began collecting. I love the confidence and faith Katie's father had that a boat would come to take them to safety. God sent a boat, and gave Katie a gift to cuddle with and love. Great story.

Yes, and I am so sorry you had to go through that. When I was young my father tried to outrun a hurricane and water was seeping in the botttom of the car doors... we were lucky to find safety. I'm glad that we all had happy endings.

God loves us so much that He will leave the ninety nine and come back for just the one. Elaine and I have taken in many a small stray over the years, knowing there is always room for one, several four legged ones, and a couple of young, two legged ones, who made it safely to their respective destinies. Beautifully written, blessings Roy

I just wanted to show that there is always hope and God will find a way - he won't leave us stranded and forgotten. He has used you and Elaine as beacons in the night. How awesome.

Now that's a generous child who would dump out all her worldly possessions to make space for the puppy. Yes, sometimes we don't know why the Lord delays in His answers and maybe sometimes we won't know until we get to heaven. Great story, Carol, on the heels of two hurricanes.

I hoped that it might lighten a few of the dark moments we've been hearing about and maybe remind us that there is hope and that the Lord works in mysterious ways.

I'm guessing that all the storms and flooding are playing with your head as much as they have been mine and so many. The weather has changed so much recently that it leaves us wondering what's next. Thanks for sharing.

Yes, my granddaughter and the three girls were in the outskirts but it was enough to scare all of us. We were blessed and so many others too. My heart breaks for those who weren't. Thank you so much.
