I like the way you have constructed this 3-6-9 as a conversation between two people. I don't think I've seen that done before. By the way, for the contest, you will need to extend it, for the rules state "This poem has three stanzas. Each stanza has three lines".

Gunner,

What a lovely 3-6-9 poem. Those three lines have a powerful punch. The picture compliments the poem well. The first true love is always the best.

Great job and good luck in your contest.

Cecilia

Off to a good start, but this contest calls for 3 stanzas -
" "3-6-9 Poem
Poetry Contest
This poem has three stanzas. Each stanza has three lines that follows the 3-6-9 syllable count. The first line has 3 syllables, the second line has 6 syllables and the last line 9 syllables. The subject can be anything."

Nice work, Lil. Knowing your background, I believe the story behind this poem is deployment, when Uncle Sam decides to yank us from our loved ones and sends us fifty miles north of east Rooster Poop, telling us we'll be gone for only a week and we come home six months later. All too familiar and it's tough for both partners. Been there, done that. Thanks for sharing it. Have a wonderful day, Frank.
