You experienced many, many adventures in six weeks. It is wonderful that you remember all the aunts and uncles and cousins. Those were happy times, that helped shape who you are today. Thank you for sharing your life with us.

Like you and Dave, I love movies, I love movies. The same goes with art... my passion.
It sounds like you had fun with your cousins. I don't have a big family and the only cousins I have live in Spain.
Your story reminds me of my vacation with my first love, when I was 15 years old. I will never forget it.
Well done!

Thank you, Gypsy. I love drama and mystery movie and romanatic comedy. I also love art. I majored in art in college.

It's wonderful that you still carry those happy times along with you. You always take me back to fond memories of my own. Times sure have changed and people look at things a lot differently, including me. At 4-years-old, the men used to take me to Jones's Bar and Restaurant and we sit there all day, me drinking beer from a shot glass. It may have mostly been foam, but by days end I would come home snockered, feeling just like one of the boys. :-) Thanks for sharing.

I never did anything like the traveling you did. I am enjoying vicariously through your stories. Keep them coming. Sometimes you will talk about a rule or something and I will be reminded of a memory I had tucked away and forgotten. These stories are fascinating. Gretchen

Thank you, Gretchen. I didn't think I ever went many places. My parents would have let me go if they had realized I be gone over a week or so. I appreciate the six stars.

I think I would've been frustrated as well if the only films being shown were westerns and war films, they're not the sort of films I enjoy at all. Another well written piece, Beth, I enjoyed reading it.

What a memorable summer that was for you! And you were at some of the places we had visited since we lived in Houston for six years. What an eye-opener for you and yet God allowed you to meet two people you knew from grade school in Newton!!

When you worked in Houston was that when you worked for Chevron. They almost transferred us there instead of around 1972. We would have been there until Evan retired in 1989. He retired at 56.

Thank you, Barbara. No doubt it was a summer I really enjoyed. I didn't want to see it end either.

It sounds very much like you had a very interesting summer of 1953. In 1953. I began myself more in high school so I'm assuming that that's about where you were at that time. Have a good day and may God bless you. Patricia.

Seems to be a summer to remember, and remember you have. So many kinfolk. So different than my family but with six kids visiting was a challenge even with a 55 Chevy SW with the third seat which was hogged by the two youngest girls.

You're really getting around Beth, it was funny back then, a lot of the extra youth that you may meet was through parent's friends or relatives, there was very few girls hung around with the young males such as me at the time, well done Beth, I love your biographical works, well done, blessings Roy
