Well Marie certainly had a little too much courage in a glass in order to socialize with the 'hicks'. She really is quite a snob but maybe a good throwup and a cry will help her to appreciate her daughter's friends. An entertaining chapter Jim, well done. cheers

Thanks so much, valda. This was one of my favorite chapters to write for the gamut of emotions we saw in Marie. So glad you enjoyed it.

A nice chapter, well written and edited. Marie may have a bit too much to drink, but Brian came to the rescue, and everything ended with Marie making for progress and the entire family and friends in Brian circle getting more... Hallmark.
Good work.

Ah, you're on to me, Lance. I'm actually a script writer for the Hallmark channel. I just write for Fan story in my spare time.

Some things never change, I guess I'm meaning some people never change. Marie drifts right back into the personality, or lack thereof, she showed from the very beginning. And she's not even a leopard. Brian's patience is amazing for someone she has treated so badly.
Thanks for sharing.

Yep, it's two steps forward, one step back for her. She needs some more time and a few more revelations before we see some real change in her.

I figured she was probably a process in the making. LOL.

Poor Marie, reminds me of me when I was stricken with booze, there's so many things I regretted when I was young and drinking heavily didn't help, the good thing about the past it's pointless giving it significance, it can't be changed, God doesn't hold it against us, it's buried with Christ and we rise to new life in His resurrection, beautifully written, blessings Roy

You're right there, Roy. The best we can do is to learn from our past mistakes and move forward anew. Maybe there's still hope for Marie, if she can do that.

Can we learn

Hello Jim,
what a great chapter. It sounds like Marie may want to look into counseling for her drinking problem. It would be so embarrassing for Julia to have her mom act like that in front of friends. So much for being a refined lady. Brian is sure a class act though isn't he? He has a lot of wisdom for a young man, and obviously, a lot of compassion. Well done my friend.
Have a blessed evening.

Thanks so much, Tom, for this great, perceptive review. You'll see in the next chapter that Julia echoes your remarks. Brian does seem wise beyond his years. I think his experience with drug addiction gives him a certain understanding of Marie and a willingness to be patient with her as his family was patient with him in the previous story.

"Lucy, you got some splainin to do!" Heh, heh. This is another stellar performance, Jim. Is it wrong that I enjoyed Marie showing her ass at the Ho Down? Well, I'm caught up and need to go to bed, lol. My great niece is showing a hog in FFA, we have to be there at nine in the moring. I look forward to the next Chapter, my friend.
God bless,
Steve

Steve, I gotta tell you I'm very impressed you went all the way back and caught up by reading every chapter. That means a lot to me that you're finding the story enjoyable enough to do that. I'm really honored by that, my friend!
Hey, Marie is probably my favorite character in this story too, as well as my wife's and several other FS readers. I've had great fun inventing this character. She will end up playing quite a significant role as we near the end of the story. Nuff said for now.
Good luck to your niece and her hog!

It's easy to do, Jim, when you find a book as intriguing as this one. I'm finding Jacob 1395's book Convicted to be a great read as well. I feel your book should be published once it is complete.
I enjoy the technical stuff as well. Marie is a hoot! I couldn't stand her at first, and then she sucked me right in. Now I don't mind her bitchy moments. Hell I prefer them now and again, lol.
God bless,
Steve

This is a wonderful chapter devoted exclusively to Marie and, I think, completing the final stage of her transformation. It provides fun, levity and raw human emotion as she at last vanquishes the demons that have undermined her role as mother over all these years. It also cleverly allows a pause in the otherwise quite intensive and complex details of this momentous project on which the team has embarked. And at the centre of the transformation, a little child entirely unaware of his role! Well done, Jim. This is deserving of a six but please accept my virtual one. Take care Debbie

Not quite completing it. She will have some more revelations in the next chapter that should help even more to set her on a course of improvement.
This is such a perceptive review, Debbie. I'm glad you appreciated the broad range of emotions in the chapter from the humor to the pathos as she confronts her failings as a mother. You also noticed the pacing of the story by my taking a break from the other plots to work on Marie's character development. At the center of her transformation, indeed, is that little child, and her devotion to Johnny plays a crucial role at the end of the story.
Thanks so much for your uplifting support of this novel, Debbie, and your virtual 6 for this chapter. This was another of my favorite chapters.

I know I might be jumping too far ahead but is it possible that she saves Johnny from an accident or something?

It was a great party that everyone seemed to enjoy. Marie tried to prove she enjoyed it more than anyone. Unfortunately, too many drinks did her in and she spent awhile in the bathroom. She wasn't proud of the end of the party, but she was proud of changing an especially unpleasant diaper.

Haha, I guess you've got to take pride in what you can! Marie will be forced to confront a few demons in the next chapter, then we'll be leaving her for a while.

This is another excellent chapter. It seemed Marie needed to get some things off her chest. Brian was very comfortable allowing her to do that. He is a compassionate man. I do not see any need for improvement. Have a blessed day.

Thanks very much, Lee. You're right; Marie has a lots of room for improvement still. The next chapter should be revealing.

Thank you for sharing this with us. I am wondering if now, Marie might get some help. We'll have to wait and see. I do like this story.
quite a stud, as he reminds everyone (I agree with Fran, not sure how to take it. Brian has done nothing to show this.)

Thanks, Barbara. The stud reference was to his mock apology from Julia back in chapter 12 when he (as Julia) said how hot he was. Fran, however, had no context for the remark and didn't know how to take it.
