This is a lovely poem and it is so sad that these butterflies are endangered. Thanks for the advice on how to help them on their journey. Your smooth poetic form and flow of words gives a voice to these beautiful creatures.

Mermaids,
Thank you for the wonderful review. It would be sad if the Monarchs disappeared. I don't see as many as I used to.

Michael,
Thank you for the wonderful review. There is so much we can do to help them. Planting milkweed is probably a good idea and leaving the pesticides off our plants.

Oh, okay! Thanks for letting me know about milkweed but I'm scared they will take over my small yard. My friend gave me some milkweed seeds. I will plant with some trepidation.
Great job telling us all this important information about the Monarch butterfly and the scary thought that they are endangered. I thought they just ate lantana flowers.

Helen,
Thank you for the wonderful review. Milkweed can be invasive, but if you plant in a pot it should be okay. We need to save the Monarchs.

Thank you, you teach nature as It was meant to be taught. The photos of the Monarchs on the trees in Mexico are amazing. Held butterflies in my fingers when a child, told by my mom don't touch their wings, you will hurt them. Listened to my mom.

Thank you for the wonderful review. I love to catch butterflies when I can get them. You were a good boy and listened to your mom. Aaahhh!
Great job

Hi Cecilia. this poem gives so much information about the Monarch Butterfly as do your notes. So interesting about their life span and all.
I knew they flew to Mexico but didn't know they arrived Dia de los Muertos. Thanks for this informative, beautiful post.

Nancy,
Thank you for the wonderful review. It's sad about the Monarch's they are dwindling away. I am going to plant some milkweed and make a butterfly garden, so they have something to fuel up for their journey.

This was a very informative, but sad poem about the monarch butterfly, Cecilia. It's very sad that it seems to be going extinct, for we will surely mourn the loss of its beauty.
You've filled this with a lot of information and your rhyming was very good. If you are ever interested in learning to write with meter, let me know. I have helped a number of other FanStorians improve the meter of their poetry. Not everyone is interested in writing with meter because it's more difficult and takes longer at first until you get the feel for it. Just let me know if you're interested, and we could work on this poem together.

Jim,
Thank you for the wonderful review. I am interested in learning meter. I just don't understand it. Debi M. was helping me and then she had her medical issue that kind of sidelined her.

Okay, good to hear. Here's what I usually do: I'll share with you an essay I wrote on meter that starts with the fundamentals and has lots of examples of good and bad meter with suggestions on how to correct it. It's written in a non-technical, very readable way. It's long, but if you read it a little at a time, it won't be overwhelming.
Also, what I've found works best is if I critique your poem and show you how to improve the meter by showing you how I would rewrite, say, the first two or three stanzas. Then I'll have you try to apply what you've learned to the next few stanzas. It's too limiting to do it through FanStory. Email works best.
My email is: jwile123@gmail.com
If you send me an email at this address, I can send you the critique of this poem and the essay. No worries about the time it will take. I really enjoy doing this.
Talk to you soon, Cecilia.

I love the Monarch's. Thank you for sharing their story. There are groups here in the Carolina who plant milkweed plants and create habitats that encourage the growth of the Monarch.
Very nice poem Cecilia.
Blessings

Janet,
Thank you for the wonderful review. That is great that milkweed is being planted. I want to create a butterfly garden. I already plant the fall flowers for their migratory journey.
