Janilou, Writers will tell their life story or someone elses in prose or poetry. A good writer makes you feel every agonizing moment. You have. Bless You!

Janilou, I love this! We think of all the whatif's as if things would have been so much better with the whatif's. But we never consider that they could have been so much worse if we could go back and do our whatif's.
You pondered the questions, then you said it all in your last lines:
"If I held the key to the past, I would stand on the edge of the sky and let it fall into the hands of God.
That's where it belongs."
Amen sister!

Thank you so much for this review or comment. I have reached a point where I cannot hope to catch up with my reviews in need of answering without resorting to a carbon copied response. I hate doing it, but with 700 plus unanswered, I can't keep up! Goat kidding season is looming, and we are spending more and more time outside preparing our buildings. My muse is driving me crazy trying to write as much as she can, before we end up on our three-to-four month sabbatical. LOL. I'm hoping you will forgive me. I have read every review, corrected nits and errors found and carefully considered every suggestion made. I am so glad you have enjoyed my work, or at felt it worthy of a comment.
I am trying to review your work as much as I can also, and by using a C.C. here, I have more time left to read all your wonderful stories, articles and poems, as well!
Hugs,
Jani

How the heck did I miss this? I must have been cleaning out my inbox too quickly!
There's another part of that alternative future that came to mind when I read this ... what if it included not meeting Paul?
I know what you mean here, Jani. I've never had anything like such experiences, but when you look back from a good place, you do think - would undoing the lousy stuff also undo the good? That would be a high price to pay.
No nits or spag here, and no ramblings, either!
Hugs,
Louise

Life has many "What If's." Some are more serious than others. It's always tempting to replay past events with new "what if" endings. I too agree that God should be the keeper of the key to our past. Finding, holding, and be thankful for the good in a series of bad experiences is very difficult but most rewarding. XCBLG

You touch on something I think about all the time - had I made more sense when I was 19 and not married, I might now have a loving husband, a nice house, security - but I also would not have my two children who mean more to me than life itself - second guessing just does not work - you put it beautifully

It's a very interesting point-of-view. There is a message of hope tucked away in there. I'm glad everything has been reconciled at the end, even if the relationship wasn't. The picture goes nicely.

So much emotion and passion in this. So much room left for some deep pondering for the reader. And in the end, the God part, truly deep, but true, we can go on and on about what if, in the end, God has control whether the outcome is better or worse. Our security lies in knowing that He'll get us through it.

This is such a dramatic and believable post. We all have parts of life that we would like to erase, but then, we wouldn't be the same we are today. Every tear has show me mercy to come to me, and to give to others.

Janilou,
I hope you dont want answer for these rhetorical questions. I can barely answer questions for which I think I know the answers. But, while you are scavenging around in the mirrored hallways of your mind, try these...
What if you'd been a boy?
What if you'd never married?
What if you had been born blind?
What if you'd been born in the middle of South Africa?
All rightie, enough musings, back to the grindstone...
well done

Beautiful job. This work will touch many hearts. A question many of us have or will ask ourselves. We are the sum of all our experiences, good and bad, they make us who we are. God bless you for sharing your wisdom.
