I love that dad kept current and has decided to be her lawyer. Yeah, they have found her! Loving the story! Great notes too.

Yes, I'm being repetitive. Another good chapter with a kewl cliffhanger at the end (I bet it's Anna). Again I didn't see any spaggies to tweak. Onward.

"It was Everett. He was visiting a friend at the local precinct. Two cops brought in Bobby for drunk-and-disorderly. I guess he tore up a neighborhood bar. While being booked, he blabbered about how his lawyer would get him off just like he was going to get his son for him. It seems he's already filed for divorce and has a kidnapping charge waiting for Anna's return." --- A "charge" is criminal. In the divorce papers and request for temporary custody, he would allege that she kidnapped Michael but, until orders are in place which she is violating, no criminal charges can be pressed against her. When he files the divorce petition and petition for temporary custody, he would have to publish it, probably once a week for four weeks, before they could have the hearing. Therefore, the hearing would be set 45 to 60 days down the road.
"I've kept my paperwork up-to-date in case a situation arose that I wanted to get back in the courtroom. This is just that case. I want Rodgers to suffer." He grinned. "I may even see if I can swing it so he spends more than a night in jail." --- First, a "retired" lawyer has to pay dues every year to maintain his status as a retired lawyer, and has to complete the continuing legal education credits every year (In Arizona, it's 15). He is "inactive" and, to practice law again, he has to reactivate himself. I don't know what that process is, so you could have Paul say that he's going to reactivate his license.
Second, one of Bobby's conditions of release on the domestic violence and child abuse charges would be that he must not drink or break any other laws. Being drunk and disorderly in a bar would violate that condition. Therefore, he would be thrown back in jail without the possibility of bail. Especially when the court is informed of his visits to the hospital in violation of the keep-away orders.

The right elements and timing as well as a great structure make this a block buster in my book. I love everything about it. It is full of suspense and surprises. Enjoying going back and filling in the blanks. Queenise

What a cliff hanger! Bobby has been arrested but is pressing charges for kidnap. Thank goodness Troy's father will come out of retirement to help with her defence. But what is Aunt Margaret doing outside Troy's office and who is with her and why? So many questions. I love it when you leave us wanting more! xxmouse

The stakes have gone up. Bobby has filed for divorce and has a kidnapping charge against Anna. The guy is a jerk. It means Anna could lose her son. I'm glad Troy's father is willing to help her. I imagine Bobby can make a lot of trouble for Anna.

This is very well written and deals with a common problem in our world today. The reading flows smmoothly and thank you for breaking the chapters down. I also appreciate the educational insights that you include in the author's notes.

Anna's lucky to have a pricy advocate on her side. That doesn't happen often. You're so right about the things abused women are told. And since they are usually isolated they can't judge the veracity of those statements. The threats are never to be ignored. Well done, Barbara. :) Nancy
