Thanks so much for this insightful review - it's too bad folks often can't reconcile these types of differences.

I have seen relationships crumble before my eyes, and I know the feeling. It's sad when we learn from watching others mistakes. This reminds the reader to appreciate loved ones, even when they aren't perfect. This is good advice, so thanks for sharing.

So much easier to be objective with others, isn't it? But it's certainly a great life teacher! A lovely story with more than a few little morals for us - but a very enjoyable read!

Very good write! I agree, but I also think you first need to be content with yourself. You have to like yourself, and think you are worth the effort. If you don't, why should anyone else? It is so hard when you see someone self-destruct, but some people just never learn. Maybe give her a copy of your write? Thanks for sharing.

Thanks, Bina11. Thanks for this great review! I thought of sharing it with her, but she's a needy type so it probably would just go over her head - lol. You know I've learned that folks tend to see what they want to see, which is not always the best thing for them.

I like the focus on us, looking at ourselves in a relationship. OUr insecurities can cloud out judgement and I too, have had a few friends lose great guys due to this. Your advice is great and is an excellent essay to read.

You are spot on with this. I've seen people do it too. They look at me, still married to my first love, and ask "How do you do it?" I am happy with what I have, and love him for who he is. Yes, we have ups and downs, but it doesn't mean we aren't "right for eachother." Give and take, that's all you need

Thanks so much, emsey! I appreciate his awesome review and delighted that you agree with my premises. As for your marriage, keep on doing what you are doing, and you'll live to your golden years together and, more importantly, in harmony! Be blessed.

Most of us carry a certain amount of baggage and from habit find it hard to put down. It's what is familiar in our world. Eventually, we come to prefer the bad to the potential good. So sad. Well done. :) nancy

Your essay offers good advice on relationships. Your list of questions is excellent. They did make me smile a bit - after all, most of us, if not all, have had days like you described. Very well written. Thanks for sharing.

You sound like you can be a professional relationship counselor. Your story made perfect sense to me, too bad it was too late to help your friend with this information, or did you try to help and purposely left that out of the story. Great advice you offer, hope it can help someone.

Thanks, Doc for this awesome review. All my professional life I supervised and managed, so I supposed that made me a professional relationship counselor - lol. I supervised for a number of years at the Social Security Administration, so you decide - lol. No, I was not able to help her. He's happy in another relationship and she's left wondering, literally, what if I'd..... Thanks again.
