This is a powerful and necessary piece of work, T. I enjoyed the way you boldly provided the "what's sometimes wrong" and follow them up with sound advice. We all could benefit from heeding these words, remembering them particularly on days when things seem to be going so well. It would certainly elevate our appreciation.

Excellent work.

Thanks for sharing your angst and for reading my poem. I am going to predict that you will have something good happen very soon that will overshadow these negative incidences. Let me know when it happens! Take care, and peace!

Living in the moment is what is under our control, the past is the past, it cannot be changed yet so many are stuck there. As I get older, I am finding more joy in daily life like the examples you describe. THe birds singing in my backyard, tasty food and funny moments make life meaningful. Your essay is full of good pyschology and wisdom.

As I read your wonderful story, it's cold outside. I still have my window open. I hear a young hawk calling. Makes me think of the picture you painted. Our beliefs may be somewhat different, but the fact that there's something greater than ourselves is obvious. Very well done. Thank you.

I like it. The message in the writing is a great message. It is well written and flows nicely. The picture is a cute one also. Everyday is a new chance at life and we have to grasp it and live it to the fullest

Each of us creates our own universe. It could not exist without our guidance. This is very well written with a smooth flow of words, making for a good read.

Bravo! Dossie my friend, a superb, philosophical essay on facts of life, i.e., as we should/must live/love every moment as it's the last and yes, forbearance plays a good part in our happiness/comfort; a profound write my friend, thanks for sharing your wisdom, God bless.

Profound advice all around, Dossie! Especially getting beyond the past.. too many of us live there, instead of here in the present. And forgiving others means also to forgive the "flaws" you see in others, even if they do not affect you. Looking down at people who do you no harm is just foolish and detracts from your own joy in living. FIND THE GOOD... glad you said that!

As much as possible, lived in the moment. << TYPO here... you meant LIVE with no D on the end.

You make an insightful point about how it often takes an egregious event to make us appreciate life in its second chance phase
Your world is only as large as you allow it to be - I really like that observation in an essay filled with insights :-) Brooke

****** VIRTUAL SIX FOR YOU

There is nothing sadder than seeing folks who have been hurt, displaced, humiliated by loss or what have you, give up and let grief do them in.

Everyday you read in the papers about the people who have lost everything due to the recession, hurricane, floods what have you. I've been on the receiving end. My husband is having a very hard time facing the loss of our retirement fund due to the recession, but everyday I remind him of the things we are still blessed with, like our children being healthy, and ending up much better than others.

Working in school it is perhaps easier for me to stay optimistic and thankful. I feel sorry for those who are entombed by their disappointments and losses. I understand, but I think it is true that people die from broken hearts and apathy.

Anyway, I could go on..I won't. Thank you for writing this piece. It's one of your very, very best!
