Wow. Very creative response to the prompt and certainly a bit unexpected since it is not dripping with gore. Instead, the invasion was cute and cuddly and totally effective. That makes it even scarier. Welcome invaders, the earth is yours. Best of luck in the contest.

Mikey, this Horror Story Writing Contest entry more than fulfills the requirements of the contest. It is completely original and has that wonderful sense of the Twilight Zone to it. Mankind sure has a way of messing up nature, that it for sure. Well done. All the best in the contest! :0 GracieAnn

Yes, indeed it's a horror + science fiction story. The title of your story, The Eighth Day, is very interesting. In fact, it says everything. You are so clever, Mikey. Well done.

Hmmm- the eighth day. Unicorn- the first mythical extinction. Makes sense that it would be the embodiment of humanities extinction, the planet's very own virus to combat the human virus, to repopulate and replentish.

No, it isn't all that scary; I think that it is rather funny, the thought of these creatures taking over and replacing the human race. I am still giggling. I do think that it is very funny and enjoyed it very much.

Brilliant, Mikey, both in concept and delivery. By science fiction standards it sounds plausible. In all it took thirty-one years to eliminate humanity from the ecosystem of earth. Definitely an eighth day. Good luck in the contest.

It's more of a science fiction story with horror elements in it. I didn't feel a sense of dread or fright. Instead I became intrigue about how fast everything happened. There's is one thing I missed. Diode was infected with the animal's DNA, but I didn't read anywhere where he was scratch. Can you point it out to where it occurred?

It reminds me of Alien, that was horror Science Fiction! I am not a fan of the horror genre, but this is more preferable than vampires, werewolves etc. It was very well written with great descriptions, narrative and characters. Scary that they reproduced so fast. You have a very creative mind and they seemed pretty real to me! Good luck in the contest. Faye

Well this is a very cute horror thriller. I think I laughed more than I cringed, but either way, you wrote a classic and that kept the reader glued to the screen. Great idea, you a plus for originality. I was going to enter this contest, and now I'm having second thoughts.

Good story. Well written. Sounds like you're down on humanity though. I only despise the stupid ones. But since that's the majority, maybe we can use some little green monsters.
This is verrrrry much like a poem I wrote about a creature found in a cave. Same story, essentially, but then there are only so many variations of alien creature stories to be written. Well, I won a prize wiht my poem, so maybe that's a good sign and you'll win THIS prize! Best of luck! :)
