To me a tree-hugger has always been someone that protects the trees from harm this idiocy makes no sense at all.
Great image but just the wrong usage of it.

The use of the image is for satiric purposes to demonstrate how ignorant and foolish mankind is when it comes to the treatment of his environment. It is all well and good to love nature, I do quite a bit. But the real idiocy is to put blinders on while the planet is destroyed. That is the intent for using this image. It shows mankind at his typical idiotic norm. mikey

I really like this 5-7-5 tree hugger entry in this contest! This is an originality poem, it is quite good! The artwork really aids the narrative of the poem! I like your chances! Good luck. Blessings, Roy.

Man's mentality:
protecting nature's wonders-
driving cars thru them
LOL. . .the absurdity!!! (Actually, the arrogance)
Nice write - you have embraced both the 5-7-5 prompt AND the tree-hugger intention ;-)

This is an adorable contest entry. Many years ago, I guess 45 to be exact. My family took a vacation to the west coast, from IL, and I got to see the Redwoods. They were wonderful and very impressive. Your poem is a strong contest entry, good luck.

Thank you so much. I'm lucky to live in California, so I have seen them a few times. Amazing life forms. I am so pleased you liked my entry!

A perfectly worded sarcastically written poem. The image says it all. How we treat God's beautiful creations, sickening. Thank you for sharing. Love this entry. Good luck

Yes, you are so correct. Thank you very much, mikey

Great 5 7 5 contest entry, correct line and syllable count per line. I fully agree, I have always hated the fact that these beautiful trees was nothing more than a cheap form of entertainment so that people could say 'I drove through a tree'
Best of luck in the contest.

Yep. That is it in a nutshell. Just so they can say "I drove through a tree". I love the way you put that. It is right on the money! I believe that is exactly the thinking that went into it. mikey

Surely, that will kill the majestic Redwood. What were they thinking. An attraction to bring in tourists, I suppose. Heck, they nearly wiped out the forest. Man don't deserve to be the Apex predator. In charge of this planet. this most definitely meets the parameters. Nice picture. Good luck ...

Glad you liked this. I've been through that tree when I was little. I think that tree blew over in a snow blizzard in 1969. There are other ones though unfortunately...

Guess, that tree got weak after termites got finished with it. Who would figure, a tree would become unstable after a hole is drilled through it?
Comment from nordicgirl
It does not get any more on the money than this. Well thought out indictment of mankinds frivilous nature. Only man would think a hole through this beautiful wonder is a good idea. NG

Thank you so much. I've seen them, so silly it defies logic. A National Preserve it is called. I don't suppose they looked up "preserve" before they drilled a big hole through that tree! mikey
