This story is moving along at a fast pace, Bev. It certainly keeps a person awake. This is another well written chapter. I see this one has also received a well deserved sixth star. I have to keep reading.

Thank you for your author notes; I've been away for a while...just had second eye surgery and doing well. I really loved this chapter--especially about the devil dog. I loved the descriptive writing and you pen for details. The imagery was very strong as well as the dialogue which was very realistic.

What excellent description you have, Bev, of Danika's nightmare in the first few paragraphs. As always, your command of using dialogue is excellent. I am always so impressed with your imagination. I must admit, though, that sometimes I forget who some of the characters are, so I'm glad you always include something in your author's notes. Great artwork to accompany another of your exciting chapters.

I was afraid I missed a chapter. Forgot all about Danika. Creating a little backstory here? This is a super chapter. Some great descriptive phrases that makes one's blood curdle.
I really liked your definition below:

Images like water bubbles struggled to the surface and popped just as she grasped them

Another great diagram:

Reverting to a technique taught to her by a former colleague and war correspondent, Danika pictured herself behind the lens of a camera. Pacing her breathing put her into a witness mode, and she waited for the scene to come forward

Whew being pulled into hell feet first:

Then, agony beyond anything she imagined, forced her to scream over and over as the soles of her feet melted beneath a wave of searing heat.

Hi, Dallas. Yes, Danika has been a minor character up to this point. I'm glad it wasn't too confusing. I'm trying to use this chapter as a further fleshing out of the level of dark energy we're dealing with.
