I love the picture. I love the poem. Abused wives often excuse the abuser. They have gone through mental emotional abuse before the hitting started. They have been taught that the abuse is normal and that they asked for it. Great work. Good luck with the contest.

Very good and very fitting for domestic violence, I can see it happening, but maybe life in jail will be peaceful for the abused for a change.

Being in an abusive relationship myself I know firsthand all about excuses, believe me. Thanks for sharing this work, although it brought back some painful memories for me it also hit home some really good life lessons I have learned. Nobody can possibly find improvements needed for this

Yes, it happens far too often in my personal opinion. But, we all know what people say about opinions, don't we.
You've power-packed a lot of meaning into this with just five simple words. Hopefully, others will grasp this concept and not allow it to fly over their heads.

interesting. The first two lines seem to flow together. An abuser harms his wife, and the wife makes excuses for the horrible acts. The last line, I take to mean he was finally arrested.
