A well-told memory of a soldier's interment, and his final call on the bugle. There is no sadder sound that that of 'Taps'. I suspect it will endure forever. Well done.

This is a beautiful and very emotive work. It touches the heart of the reader, oh the sacrifice of our men fighting an unending war. Best wishes to you.

Hi GW,

This is a beautiful poem with a wonderful story, although sad. It is written very well and is an enjoyable read. You are a great poet, and it's always a joy to read your work.

"Taps pierces the sky" and it pierced my heart. Recently I attended a military funeral for my uncle. Everything was so perfect and dignified. When the flag was given to my aunt, I accepted my uncle's death...the real heart ache was about to begin. Your poem is so well written I re-lived all the emotions of that sad day.

Rhythm and flow read marvelously. Beautiful blend of memories seeming like the present before the final mission falls. Taps always pierces like no other sad melancholy music. Reflect on this life. Carpe diem, for we know not what tomorrow brings. A tribute to a life all to brief, but with a permanent reflection.

Hi. This reads and scans smooth. I like the sadness of the bugle...the six guys. I just wish this were not so real, I just wish we did not bury young men for a flag on the grave...
However, the poem sure does bring it home.

This is a very moving poem spoken from a fallen soldier. The descriptive words that he uses provides the perfect imagery of him as he makes his last deployment. Well done.

A touching and poignant piece. Well written from the fallen soldier's perspective. I lost an uncle in the Korean Conflict and a cousin in Vietnam.
Great picture and presentation.

Blessings
