A very touching poem about a very difficult subject. It flows in a way that works well and the lines are just long enough to express the many emotions of soldiers during that harrowing time. The poem has an aura of acceptance of the cruel reality and the realization that the poet's day may come, since many of the brothers have had theirs. Love the spiritual, hopeful ending. Love the presentation. I'm so glad you have a book like this. Blessings & thanks for sharing. Liilia

A beautiful poem written on the horrors of war. Many of us would be well to listen to these words in our world today of death and violence. well written, my friend~Debbie

Yes, it is very tragic, her death. We are all still in shock. Pam was a wonderful consummate writer, and a devoted member here. She will always be remembered.
Your verse is poignant and sad, but so is life at times.
Then look around for sight or sound from friends we lost this day,
Tomorrow will bring the same as today with less of my brothers beside,
Well said, my friend. Nice remembrance of those departed, and a candid look into death - a state we all fear, but which is inevitable, alas...
Love, Y.

Exceptionally well told. Each line when read aloud leaves the reader almost as breathless as the charging soldiers who face each day with adrenaline and fear. I once heard, and believe this is true, that courage is not the opposite of fear but the facing of it.

War is always devastating and sad, which your poem reflects very well. I would certainly like to read more of your work. The accompanying picture is quite appropriate.

what a deep reflection and memorial of the past calamities caused by war which your poem reflected here with a lingering memories of those that were lost and the agonies of those left behind. But man has never repented from warring, too sad. A moving artwork too.

The world goes to war for many reasons. Somehow, there will be blood with loss of lives. Like it or not, we all suffered terribly when wars abound.
In the name of freedom and human rights and countries have to do what is right, this theater of war will continue.
War is a losing game and no one wins. Left will be a place buried with dead bodies and a cry from the ravens.
Great write and well expressed.
Cheerio, regards, Ritchie. :))

This has been quite the touching piece as I enjoy my first bit of reading with morning coffee. Great feeling imposed through this that made me want to read it more than once. The last line is perfect at summarizing all thoughts. Excellent.

This work stands the test of time. I guess each generation has their own group of 'brother' who stand and fall side by side. My son is a Medic in the U.S. Army. I am so proud of hi. He is about to do his second tour in Afghanistan. This is lovely and makes you think, they are only young men.
