deepwater:
Excellent painting of pain and cries to Father during a war. What fear and trembling they must have endured in a cupboard under the stairs. We must remember and tell the stories, even on FS. I can see why this is all time best writing.

I think your poem is well written and it certainly describes the situation well. I'm sure many people did not make it out alive. Glad your friends did.

Hopefully, it never happens again. Then again, it seems as though it's always bound to happen somewhere. Well written and the message is clearly conveyed.

Beautifully done. This is a difficult memory for you I'm sure. I have always felt that our darkest hour as Americans was in our reluctance to enter the war on behalf of Great Britain. On 911 we lost 3,000 souls...the number that was lost routinely during the raids on London. Thank you for reminding us of the struggle and the resilience of so many

Very interesting. It was a miracle that some people managed to live through that terrible war. When you read about the devastation the mind wonders, how. Perhaps God, perhaps fate. Well done.

I am out of practice as regards reviewing so don't take me too seriously... 'Echo of sound ring high' Should that be 'Echo of sound RINGS high' In any case I fear that 'sound' is too weak a word for the occasion. Clamour? Tumult?

The Germans used bombing by airplanes, buzz bombs, and V2 rockets and were never able to break British spirit much like what is happening in Isreal although much cruder rockets. Their own spirit is strong, but many in Gaza suffer. Lovely free verse in a story from the past

This is a superb write. It paints a real graphic picture of what must have been a time of absolute terror.
My in-laws lived in Coventry through the war and they have told stories that match the details in your poem.
As poetry this is quality, the rhyme is sharp and the meter sublime.

very powerful poem about times tat hopefully will not repeat again.
i liked the way you described tension and desperation using the sounds - cries.
very smoothly flowing poem, capturing the seriousness of the described times.
