Congrats on a top finish in the contest. How did I miss this when you posted it? Football is a very unique culture. At least it could be. I enjoyed your acrostic. The details were spot on. Nicely done... John

Excellently crafted Acrostic poem that rhymes. I confess I do get football fever, Just for the Ravens though. My wife hates this time of year. It gets cold and I lock them out of the room when the games on.

lol. You gotta do what you gotta do. I love college football best, especially since the Cowboys are playing like cowgirls! 8-) Good luck with the season. 8-) Oops, and thanks for the review!

Hi BG,
I have to admit I don't like spectator sports of any kind; however, you really captured the energy and craziness of die hard fans. You did a good job with your rhymes - none were forced.
Hugs,
Lou

Thanks, Lou, for your review and seeing the craziness of our society in regards to our sports. Some do go overboard; not me, of course. 8-)

Each line captures football fever. Word choices reflect it:
obsession, mania, loud, obnoxious. Kind of my feelings about the game. LOL.
Favorite line:Oval-shaped object tossed through the air

Thanks for the review. I am a bit of a football fan; not so much a fanatic, thank goodness. I have to tell my 87 years old mother, "It's just a game. Settle down!" lol

GREAT POEM! Would give you more stars if I could. Saskatchewan Rough Riders is my football team. Perfect description of the game of football. LIKED:
FOOTBALL FEVER FIRES UP IN THE FALL.
OBSESSION WITH OUTERWEAR, NUMBERED JERSEY SAID ALL.

Ha! Haven't heard 'tom boy' since I was a youngster growing up climbing trees and running wild around the neighborhood. 8-)
Glad you liked it!
Hope your week goes well also.

Hi, Karen.
What a great poem, capturing the true feel of football from the game to the mascots, to the tailgate parties. The picture you included is a perfect accompaniment for your poem. Good luck to your Arkansas Razorbacks.
Bye

Thanks for the good luck wishes for my Razorbacks. We are going to need it Saturday against AUBURN! I appreciate your review, too.

Hi, BG
This is a really great contest entry. You pretty much sum all the good - and bad - of football season, while fitting them nicely into the required form. I like that none of it seems contrived or forced. This deserves to do very well, my friend.

I used to be a big fan of American football when I was part of the running for the bar betting. I won, in my last year working there, $1365 for one weeks betting pool. It was the largest bar pool around. it was great fun and your poem depicts a lot of the energy that this sport brings us all. Great rhyming and great imagery

Thanks so much, lulube! I am glad we share the same enthusiasm for the game. I have never won a football pool play. Almost one time but the opposing team scored a TD in the last minute to ruin my numbers! 8-)

damn I hate that when that happens. lol
I even got my daughter in it when she was in grade 2 and she won a week. $365 I took her to the Bay childrens toy floor and told her to go nuts and that had 5 mins to bring me everything she wanted. She came back with her arms full of balls. I laughed so hard. Then one year she was in grade 6 now, she was second place overall total score for the year and won $650 I gave the money to my mom to invest in a term deposit and she bought her first car with the money. not bad.
Shes a hockey nut now
