Quite enjoyable, and kudos for snagging not one, but two! of the prompt titles. I fully sympathize with "genes can't be beat" as I'm a fat-bottomed guy who can't say no to chocolate, whether it be cake, candy, or ice cream.

A well done contest entry, and a delight to read.

This is a very cute poem, Debra. And its story is oh so true. It is very difficult to lose weight, even though one tries to eat correctly. (I voted for you.)

I enjoyed reading your poem. Great job writing a poem to go along with the title choices. I like the rhyme scheme that you use. I like that you are motivated. Great job. Best of luck.

This is a good poem. It rhymes well. It traces the path that temptation takes from being very resistant to letting people talk you into trying a little bit to finally giving up and just rationalizing away the things you are doing to contribute to the problem. Great job.

Hi Debra:)
All the way to the last line one question crossed my mind,"Who's this fatty think she's fooling." It may be too late to stop her now,

Great contest entry.

Roger Then came the last line of the poem and the truth came out. She creates a good story in a poem, but the last line tells the truth.

good luck in the contest

your well chosen words allow the reader to see and feel the effort one has put into losing wait but feel she is a fat bottomed girl

good visual to portray message

good enjambment to allow flow in sentences

good rhyme theme through out couplets not forced

This a funny poem with playful rhyme. Gene affect even more than our taste buds but this reveals that other stumbler, that favorite treat. for me it's cookiee.

I had a friend for year in the online game lord of the rings and when she quit to look after real life I was quite devasteated.

But we are also friends on facebook and I have watched her over the last few years as she went from couch potato to mere bag of crisps.

Last I saw she had a model like figure and I felt so proud of her.

It's not that media image, it's the self respect!

A woman with self respect expects her husband and kids to have it too.

Nice thought, Debbie :)

Cheers Erik :) Can't ever see me having a model-like figure, (its not in my genes!) but I'm trying to tone up and improve my overall fitness - shame I like baking, and eating!

    Tht's how Sin started!

"I can't see me ever losing weight!"

    Next thing .. she's a sexy elf and I'm thinking she's awesome!

    You can do it!

Oh, how you made me smile, Debra!

Your poem is lighthearted, jaunty, sassy and quite delightful.

Here's to all those fat-bottomed girls - the world wouldn't be the same without them.

Hope the little one is completely well.

Love,

Sonali

Hurrah! So pleased to hear that! Will check her off my 'list'. :)

No no, keep her on your list please Sonali! Pray that she stops telling fibs... she makes so much up, I never know if I can believe what she's telling me! Funny now, but not funny if she maintains the habit :( Hugs, Debra x

I will, dear. Is she a very imaginative child? It could be her creativity playing tricks on her. I knew a little girl who told the tallest stories and she was labeled a liar - it turned out she was just a very imaginative little thing who found the real world a little boring.

I'll keep her on the list - don't worry! Love,

    Sonali
