What a fire! We have them here every year! It is already hot here and we are in for a bad one this year I am afraid. You piece is short and to the point. I might add a little history or a little more about the people just to give it flavor. It is informative but it also needs to have reader inner interest. Has their been fires there before? Were the people prepared or did it come as a total surprise? Etc.

Hi GBR - Congratulations - a great 5/7/5 and a great piece of writing. I can see why you won. I absolutely love line 2 - 'Pleading Branches to Heaven' - a great personification of branches and an inspirational piece of writing. Good alliteration in line one and whole superb. Warm regards Dorothy x

The artwork you choose to go with your poem is a perfect match. This is what I call a food for thought poem.... meaning after you read it you go mm.
Thank you for sharing.

It is sad how a fire can cause so much havoc and destruction. This is very well written and a deserved winner. Well done.
Take care.
