congratulations on your win, gypsy, I enjoyed reading this witty animal poem and the picture is just too cute. I will have to check out the video another time...

You are "clever and witty" yourself in posting this appealing 5-7-5 and notes. The picture you selected is the perfect accompaniment to your poem. I hope your entry does/did well in the contest. Cheers- Joan

I love it! That dog, bless him, has got it all wrong. Brilliant contest entry, the words and the picture go so well together. Good luck in the contest! xsx Sandra

Delightful in its appeal and definite precise in its disclosure, writer humor is exposed in this work, the work without the picture to aid leaves confusion

certainly a poem to fit the picture and the contest rules; it has the wit and the animals and the 5-7-5 structure; I think that you have done a good job here.

Along with this funny photograph, this 5-7-5 on animals, Clever Witty Fox, finds humor in the controversial world of both fox hunting and varmint thinning. Fox and Hound (and old cartoon) comes to mind.

The correct picture choice added so much to your poem. The word choice set up the tone for your poem. You stayed with the prompt. I like the notes about the intelligence of animal. This added originality to your poem. You strengthen the idea that so much can be said with only a few words.

Ha-ha! For anyone who has ever done any hunting at all, this is priceless, LOL. Of course the picture is hilarious, but the poem could quite easily stand alone without it as well. Therein lies the rub as it pertains to these witty animal 5-7-5 contests. To create an funny image that makes one laugh with or without any accompanying art or photo.
You've managed to do precisely that here in your funny entry for the contest. Good alliteration in Dumb Dog. Your syllable count is on the money.
Good work, and good luck! ~Dean :)

Thank you Dean, I appreciate your review and kind words. I am a very visual person and I have to watch myself when I add pictures to the haikus to make sure they can stand alone without the picture. For me, it is so much fun to look for pictures and art for the piece. I wanted to add a video and I tried but all the videos I found were too big to upload here on FS. I had a video in mind for this haiku. Have you ever heard a song called, "what does the fox say?" The group's name is Ylvis. You can check it out on YouTube. It is awesome, I think you would like it.
I hope you are having a fun and restful Sunday.

I haven't heard it, but I'll look it up. You can embed any YouTube video in your author's notes by going to the bottom left of the video, click "share", then "embed". You copy that code, then place it in your author's notes. If you want to make it smaller, simply change the values pertaining to width and length. For example, if a video's property is width 500 X 400 length, just change those values (numbers) to suit your needs.
See how easy that was? heh-heh...

Weird song, ha-ha!

Okay so this one made me laugh. No, animals are not as dumb as most people seem to believe they are. And a fox that outsmarts its hunter deserves to be left alone. Poem clearly states a very vivid message in 5-7-5 format and should do well in this contest.
