I enjoyed your poem, especially the phrase hermit retreat. It brought back memories of my son's having them in their little aquariums and how they would even have races with them. For so few words you allowed us to see them on the beach. Nicely done. Terrie

This is not only a flawless haiku but a highly amusing one, so easily visualized. I enjoyed it very much, especially the play on words in the witty satori. Hermit crabs are fascinating creatures.

What a funny thought. I have once witnessed the crabs fighting and it was such a funny sight. Your word choice was perfect for the theme. Nice entry poem.

Hi mystery poet,
Nice haiku! It has the summer kigo, two interconnected lines written in present tense, which contain fine images. I liked the simplicity of this haiku, as there are no fillers here. I like the word play on "hermit" in the satori line, as it adds a subtle humor to the haiku. The satori line makes it more interesting. Good luck!

Anupam

I know that Gulf sand crabs can be aggressive little fellows, no larger than a baby's
fist but grouchy. I know little about Haiku, but this one seems to fill the bill, so
I call it excellent.

Hi.
I am not a poet of any possible definition. It's a writing genre that totally escapes me. But I know good writing when I see it!
To be able to say so much with so few words always amazes me. Verbosity is my trademark! You gave us a complete story in the three short lines. I enjoyed it!''Good luck in the contest ...

Gypsy Blue Rose,
This is a lovely haiku that you have written. Pebble Beach is lovely any time. How cute that you have the hermit retreat and the crabs fight. That is usually how it works. Thank you for sharing. Best wishes in the contest.
