Your poem is important in asking us the hard question of who we are and what we would do in certain circumstances. I agree that we should humble ourselves sometimes to let others shine. Our journey in life is a learning one so thank you for reminding me that there is still a lot for me to learn. I like the meaningful words in your artwork choice.

Wow! Darling woman, I'm awed. Emotional sobriety? What a powerful concept.
Everyone I've known who is in recovery, still needs to hold a cup of coffee or a soda, the grasp, the motions all replayed with a less noxious liquid, but whether a person is dealing with booze or intoxicated thinking, the words are powerful--an awakening.
This is VERY GOOD!

Thanks, Ingrid, for the great review and the bonus star. They say that when the alcoholic picks up the drink they stop growing emotionally. Putting down the booze is just the beginning. Thanks, again. Glad you liked it.

A very well written poetry and nicely expressed and put into words. A decent vocabulary is used and a different topic is chosen,
I would appreciate if you would read my work and give your precious review.

Compulsion or obsessiveness are not conducive to a good life or relationship. Whatever instance, everything in moderation. Excellent rhyming to convey your powerful message. Faye

I think you are speaking of the challenges of being a dry drunk. The battle does not end once the bottle is set aside. It is ongoing, a need to adjust the interior landscape of emotions. Excellently rendered.

Dallas101, I find this work and its commentary so very well worth the read. Emotional sobriety, I never heard such a term, but I always thought of it as emotional intelligence.
I think all of us who are introspective and truly have a humble heart will take this work into their soul.
well done.. thank you for sharing... jlsavell

Congratulations. I just celebrated 28. Every year we have a woman's workshop for anyone in a 12 step program. I write the corresponding poetry for each topic. This one of course, was on emotional sobriety.

Truly questions we should ask ourselves daily. Why do we get offended for the slightest action of others? Why do we judge others before we actually know them?

Beautifully expressed, well rhyming thoughts. Being drunk on ego has so many ways of doing damage. I like the term "Emotional sobriety" its something to think about when we look at our actions.
