What a clever way to salute October! I enjoyed your word choices, like "mantle" and the play on "October fest". Here's to the critters and kudos on your win! Big cheers- Joan

This years leaves will be dirt by next summer, due to those hard-drinking bugs and hard working bacteria. Lots of the dirt will be the leaves of summer after next. I am no Haiku wiz, but this makes sense to me.

Ah, so that's where all the leaf litter comes from! Post party mess! I like your connection with the Munich Beer Festival. I can still recall the hangovers!

Well, this well thought out piece can be very suggestive. It certainly follows the carefully laid out rules. How close can we ordinary humans get to Mother Nature. -Ekim777

I like this October kaiku - beneath leaf mantle. The verse shows allot of activity, drinking, eating, dancing and so the last line bugs' October fest seems to be an appropriate celebration. The colors you chose - orange background and black print enhance the effect. Good luck in the contest.
