Hi Bev! You are a versatile writer. You wrote about the Indians with such expertise and now you are taking on Mexico and the Spanish language. Your talent and abilities have no end. We finally meet the mystery shaman. Looking forward to finding more about this destiny talk :)

Great! He's Pasquale's unwilling house guest and cant' very well walk back to town due to the distance and that is if he even made it past the pair of onsite jaugars that the shaman was so kind to mention.
What has Morales gotten himself into?

I know we're going to see the hawk again. I loved that moment. Great description. I liked when you likened the hawk to a falling star. Seen and then suddenly gone without a trace.

Another excellent chapter. I love this story.

Thanks so much, Ellen. You are in tune, my friend, because I was just thinking how to bring the hawk back into another scene. I have a great book that I always pull out when I have an unusual sighting of an animal or bird. The hawk's red tail, according to my source, represents the Kundalini energy that runs along the spine to the top of the head. It can make a dramatic appearance when we reach a point our life where we begin to move toward our soul purpose more dynamically.

I so appreciate your splendid review and continued support, Ellen. It really means a lot to me.

like a pugilistic cock - love the analogy!

Bev, dear, I'm glad I have a six to add to the long string you've no doubt received already.

Fabulous chapter. I could feel the poor man's tension. The contrasting visuals of the hawk and the snake are beautifully ... unsettling!

Wonderfully well done, my friend.

Hugs,

Hi, Sonali. Thank you for this grand review. I sure appreciate your kind remarks and generosity. Thanks, too, for the correction. I'm really trying to work on trimming... but bad habits still rear their ugly head. I'd wish you a happy Thanksgiving but I believe you've already celebrated yours a few weeks. So, I'll just wish you a lovely rest of the week, my friend.

Hi, Bev. I feel so bad that I don't have six stars left for this chapter. It is exquisite to say the least. Brilliant writing from top to bottom:

Like: "I wanted to giggle like a four-year-old finding Santa's milk glass empty, but suppressed the urge by clamping my lips together. I heard a voice in my head say, "The wind brings you its first gift, Stefano."

And: "The thin air caused me to hyperventilate, and I grew dizzy. Stopping to catch my breath, I heard a rustling sound nearby. Scanning the area, I spied the movement of a sinuous, black shape winding itself around the base of a creosote bush not six feet away. A sudden wind rose up and, to my horror, the object lifted off the ground and flew directly into my face."

Further: "I threw off his hand and stuck my chest out like a pugilistic cock. "I don't know what the hell you're talking about. I came here for one reason alone: to interview you for my book." I was heaving with anger."

Excellent writing, Bev. Bravo! (Happy Thanksgiving! XX From me and Lynie.

Well Bev,
What can I say but BRAVO! You have done it again. Having read much of you early stuff I have to say I think you have hit your stride here. The imagery the tension and the mystique are all so well done. I love the scarf and the hawk and of course the whole feeling of your main character, it is as if you have been there because you certainly take the reader to church. The best of you work is being penned on every new chapter. I am so glad you decided to take this risk and take all of us on this journey with you, Again I can find no fault with your work here. I wish I could be more helpful but I remain a very loyal fan and wait anxiously for the next bit.

    Hi, Rob

What a great review, my friend. I'm especially thankful for your insight about the growth in my writing. I do believe that I have improved and will continue my quest to keep doing so. Also, this subject is so dear to my heart. I've had twenty some years to reach an understanding of my own mystical experiences with shamanism. I really believe I had to grow into those understandings. Plus, science backs up what Casteneda claimed nearly forty years ago! That just boggles my mind. I'm grateful for your confidence that this project would be well-received. I was nervous, as you know, and your words of encouragement kept me going ahead. That is, as the saying goes, PRICELESS!

I hope you enjoy a restful and uplifting Thanksgiving, Rob.

    All my best,

    Bev

Please excuse me for being slow in reviewing. Murphy's law has been a predominate feature in my life this past week. Between health problems, my laptop dying, and a recently purchased desktop computer acting up - causing me to spent numerous hours in trying to determine the cause of its malfunctions and fixing them - I've hardly had a chance to get much of anything else done.

Regardless of the above, your chapter is well written. I could not find a single item that needs correcting, or to be change. Great job.

The chapter easily holds a reader's interest, and at the end leaves the reader in anticipation of what's going to happen next since the Processor is going to be a guest at Pasquale's residence.

Thanks for sharing this and Have a Happy Thanksgiving. JW

Thank YOU, JW. I appreciate you taking time to review given all that you're dealing with right now. Gosh, it seems like you rarely get a chance to catch your breath before some new challenge comes along.

Happy Thanksgiving to you, as well, my friend.

Good job, Bev, with the continuation of your story line. Morales continues to be in a state of wonderment as Pasquales seems to have a mystical quality about him. It seems he is trying to take Morales down a path he himself has already traveled.
Good stuff!

I'm in awe at how you create your stories.

Right away, I'm swept up into the professional quality of your writing. It's so natural, easy to follow, yet sets up the scene with great attention to detail.

It didn't appear to be hunting food--rather, I sensed it to be conjoined with our vehicle in some strange way. - excellent.

clay-colored boulders piled atop each other like dice tossed by the hands of the gods. - love that.

I was certain something I did not want to piss off was lurking in the slight shade of the bushes lining the path. - haha - that's exactly how I'd be! Snakes! Yikes.

Superb scene with the scarf, the way you created the hallucination. Masterful, Bev.

Right, so now we wonder about Pasquale. The mystery deepens.

Superb post, my friend. Bravo.

This is quite an interesting storyline that flows smoothly and is well-written.

You also used some excellent descriptive phrases, such as :
"quick as the spark of a firefly"

I look forward to reading more of your story.
