I love the presentation of the picture and the poem. The wise words are simple and universal, which we all need to hear. If everyone would have that credo, the world would be a much better place to live. Thank you for lightening up my day. Well done. Thank you for sharing your message.
Peace, Jesse

pharp,
This is an amazing 2-4-2 entry and message!
It's challenging to convey a strong
message in those 8 syllables and you were
very successful here.
Show love, help those in need and smile
while your doing it...is there any better
advice than that? No, I don't think so.
Thanks for sharing this with us,

Hey there Portia
I loved this one because to me service is the best way we can exemplify our Savior's words and teachings. It should ALWAYS be given without any want for accountability

I prefer this 2-4-2 because of your subject
matter. Too often we walk past them as if
they aren't there: The invisible people. How much
would it take for us to just take a moment....
We probably can't vote, but this is the one I would
take the time to vote. -Bill

I enjoyed your poem. The syllable count is correct. Your message is strong and clear. If more people heeded it, then the world would be a better place. I see no changes. Good job and best wishes in the contest.

What a perfect thought we should all adhere to. It reminds me of a friend of mine I used to go on Senior trips with. She was blessed to be rich, and know she deserved it, but I was surprised at her lack of compassion for a person in need as the one in the picture you selected.
She told me that she had no tolerance for people that did not work, and that when she came out of the post office with her mail, a young woman was on the steps with a sign asking for money. She told me she approached her and said something to the effect, "Why don't you get a job instead of begging for money? You should be ashamed of yourself!" I was so baffled that I did not know how to respond. She was a very unforgiving type of person and seemed to hold grudges against people who had deceived or hurt her, whether knowingly or unknowingly.
It reminded me of what Roy Masters used to say on his radio show and cassette tapes...
Is it true?
Is it kind"
Is it necessary?"
I remember the last line, "Is it necessary?" when I am about to shoot off my mouth and immediately curb the desire and keep my mouth shut.
I cannot judge my friend for the way she behaved, because perhaps the young woman was a lazy drug addict, and yet again she might have been a legitimate single mother that needed money to feed her child.
I gave it much thought and the answer came to me in the Bible as usual. I believe it said something to the effect that if we gave to an addict and did not know it, it would not be on our conscience. That is why I always give a buck or two when I used to leave parking lots and not feel guilty if the person was an addict...because perhaps he was not.
As you know my dear friend Portia, life is such a puzzle, and if we did not read and heed the WORD OF GOD IN THE BIBLE, we could easily go astray and have to pay a heavy price for our ignorance because it would have been our choice to not READ THE WORD-- for whatever reason.
I wish you luck in the 2-4-2 contest, but as I just told Marilyn, I gave the last two sixes to Ben Colder and John M.
They certainly deserved it - and so do you and Marilyn - and why I feel the six star rule is so unfair to deserving writers.
Love and Blessings galore and a big hug besides!
Nan:-))

Nan,
You review and kindness is all I need, no worry about a six star rating. I try to allow the Lord to guide me as I give. My husband says I will give my very last.
I will never judge, people are homeless for different reasons. Nevertheless, we never know we could be helping one of God's angels.
There was a man standing outside of Walgreens a few days ago without any shoe. I went into the store, made a purchase and gave the cashier ten dollars; my purchase came up to six dollars and some change. He gave me back thirteen dollars and change. I informed him that I gave him ten dollars, he insisted that I gave him a twenty dollar bill. I tried to explain to him that I knew that it was a ten dollar bill that I had given him because it was the last bill I had on me. Still he insisted I gave him twenty. I told him if his register comes up short to let me know.
Upon leaving the store the man was still standing there without any shoes and asked if I could give him something to get him something to eat. I immediately gave him all the change the cashier had given me and asked him his shoe size. He said he wore a size 14, unfortunately my husband's shoe size is not that large and he have some many new show at home that he doesn't wear I was going home to get him a pair. He thanked me and shook Jonathan's hand. I guess it was meant for me to give that poor man the money that did not really belong to me. I believe things always happen for a reason.
Thanks again my friend for your very kind review. Blessings.......................Portia

Yup, kill 'em with kindness :) Don't stoop down to the dirty tricks or the negative nellies. Fill the world with sunshine and positive thinking. Your syllables fit well in all the right places. Good luck in this contest.

The essence of live is to love our neighbors like ourselves and to help others wherever can. To give with a open heart and a wide honest smile.
This rating does not count towards story rating or author rank.
The highest and the lowest rating are not included in calculations.
