Famous Battle.
The Battle of Trenton was too.
There's a famous picture of George Washington on one knee in prayer
Washington lost more than he won.
But he won the major ones.
Funny, I'm from New Jersey and I know very little.
...
I live on Tuckerton and there is across called, "Radio Road"
Something to do with warnings.
Well done!
Happy New year.

The greatest shame of all was brother dying at the hand of brother in support of yet another man claiming the right to enslave a fellow brother. Of course it is impossible to calculate the loss of the potential that might have derived from all the casualties that perished unnecessarily on the battle field.

This is creative, beautifully crafted and presented, and very well thought out. You've captured that battle beautifully with very colorful and descriptive wording. The scene is painted skillfully and with precision in your pen. I thoroughly enjoyed this well written work. I can easily see why this is a winner. You deserved it. Great job and very well done! Congratulations!

Hello M. Since I am partial to metric poetry that rhymes I like the formatting and style of your poem. Being also a student of history I appreciate the presentation of the battle and its consequence. Z

I can certainly see why this poem won the contest. The words just seem to flow and rhyme so well. I like the explanation at the end of the poem. And the last line summed up why the Battle was fought. The beginning of the civil rights movement. Well done. Thank you for sharing this amazing poem with us. Blessings. ~Brenda

This poem, The Battle of Fredericksburg, takes the readers back to a time we may see again, when a nation torn in half goes to war to settle who we are.

This is an excellent poem, Monica. Well thought out, rhymed, and described. Unfortunately, I don't think history is taught in schools any more and many of our historical monuments, whether looked upon favorably or not, have been destroyed. As they say if we don't remember our history, we are doomed to repeat it. Marilyn

Your poem really brings the Battle to life. I've always been fascinated by the Civil War, with the brother against brother description. And they didn't have sophisticated weapons, so I would imagine they died slower and more agonizing deaths. Bringing it back at the time of its anniversary is an excellent idea. The image you chose really complements your work. Poem itself is wonderful, rhymes beautifully, great choice of words, and makes an impact. Beautiful job.
