I was captivated by this line "when the mind has outgrown the real world..." I was astonished by the depth of the statement written in such a simple way. In these troubled times is when lines like these that will keep us sane and safe.

Hey Happy feet...smile
Indeed strange are the days of our lives...when bad becomes good...left right...and money most important. Loyalty is a precious commodity.
I wrote this along time ago after reading two documented nut cases diagnosing me. My favorite line is...a single bird...flipped. that's really what motivated my re releasing. Anyway...thank you for your loyal friendship all these years. Love you Michael

Thank you for sharing a part from where this great poem came from. I appreciate it so much. Funny, sometimes in our darkness moments there is always a solitary loving light that shows us there is a way. Keep writing, please. Sometimes I am away, bgut I always come back.

An interesting subject and poem. I liked the line crazy just diagnosed insane hard to explain in particular, I think because of the rhyme within the line.

Indeed lots of rhyme and very little reason are the rrules of some worlds. Birds of the same feather tend to flock together...locked up in insane asylums modeling pajamas....I ah finally lifted the stone and I'm out of here. Over and out ...the last Patriot standing. -salute-

A very well-written poem about being in isolation can make us feel a little crazy an weird after a while and the best cure is to keep the mind busy all the time.

No your enemies...never back down from defending what's right. And dont graze with the black sheep...they're wolves and will eat you if given the chance. Love Michael

Today when the world is running under extreme stress and threat of pandemic, some health staff or workers are not so cautious about their services; well said, well done.

This was pretty good. My fave line is "when the mind has outgrown the real world". I love that line. I know it's supposed to mean he's gone crazy. But there is some sort of intellectual innuendo in that line as well. Maybe that's why there's a thin line between genius and insane.

Yes yes indeed...lots a minds have out grown their brain size around here...its like a virus this supersized CNN mini station. Where God haters and American trashers flourish under the protection of big daddy stalin. Rah rah commi china.

HA! "a single bird...flipped
flew away graceful as truth
grateful for the few feathers left"
There are so many puns in this poem, I can't just say that one did it for me. The title, the imagery, the poem..just freaking perfect.

I really enjoyed this free verse. Perhaps, with its little references to the film which I loved. Great free verse and great picture of Jack Nicholson. Well done. Warm regards Dorothy

The poem fits the mood
Set by the movie clues
Filled with nothing but cuckoos
That makes so little sense
Still more nonsense they do want
To flow with this poem somewhat
Not sure what to say more
Other than it is cuckoos day

I agree people are predictable.
Penelope was addicted to Snidely's charming game playing.
Dudley thought he was doing right, when all along he was doing wrong....-shouldershrug-....life is a cartoon. love Michael

Nice photos to emphasize the insanity of the mind and conditions that contribute to it. Medications have new names hard to pronounce. Writer is so crazy as a coo coo bird.
The actor who played in "One Who Flew Over the Coo Coo Nest" is one of my favorite movies. liberty justice

Comment from Gloria ....
Haaaaaa, yes I read Ken Kesey's book long before the movie came out. Both were incredibly good. Nurse Ratched was one of those people we just loved to hate. Louise Fletcher probably had a hard time getting any acting jobs after that. LOL.
All your stanzas are very haiku-esque to me, and that is terrific.
Lots of improvements have been made to psychiatric treatments since those days. Those lobotomies were horrific operations. Like scooping out your brain with a spoon.
Terrific job with this Michael. :))
