It appears that you have lived a full life, and like most of us, you've had your share of ups and downs. So many never learn to accept the things they cannot change, and keep their eyes on the only means of staying on the right path. However, it looks like you've managed to learn and grow closer to what makes this whole life worthwhile. Wishing you the best! :-)

So, jusylee challenged you to write your life story and share it with all of us here at good Ol' FanStory, huh, Kay?
Kudos to you, jusylee ...
Growing up in Sydney during the fifties was a blast. Life was simple, none of those fancy electrical gadgets we have today. ... It was the same for us as kids growing up here in the 50's and 60's, Kay. I read EC horror comic titles like Tales From the Crypt, and Vault of Horror, for my main source of entertainment. Go figure, right, heh-heh? ...
Toilet rolls were the pits, so to speak. We cut up the local paper and that was the end of it! No flushing toilets, that came later. ... I grew up helping my grandma and grandpa Cook out on their hog farm in Eaton, Ohio. My two younger brothers and I spent most of our summers there, except when my dad was on vacation when we would all go camping for a couple of weeks. I did this from the age of ten until I was almost 17 years old, every summer. It as damn hard work, but I also have some of my fondest memories from those days of my youth spent helping out on the farm ...
"...High School (still hated it) my grades slumped becauseI was really wanting to what I truly wanted to learn to become (was) an artist."
I havetravelled traveled the world, met people from all walks of life (I love people) maybe you gathered that by now. ... One "L" in "traveled", Kay. And yes, I have gathered that you're quite fond of people. That's one of the things I love about you. Well that, and your sense of humor, of course, heh-heh ...
Oh, did I mention? I do want to do two more things before I pop off. I would love to learn scuba-diving and sailing for the disabled. ... What, no sky-diving on your bucket list, Kay? I've jumped 32 times, thirty of those by static line from a height of 3,200 feet, and two times in free-fall (one tandem, strapped to my instructor), from a height of 12,000 feet.
it's better than sex, it truly is! Well...almost, lol ...
You've lived quite a full and interesting life, my dear friend. Now, just think. There is even more to come!

Dean, You have become a precious cyber-friend. We may not meet in this life, certainly have met before, will again on the other side. I don't like heights! You sure have had a full life yourself. I'm not done just yet! Fanstory and you keep me awake. Love, Kay :-) XX

It is so lovely to share your story and your humour. You write so well, colourfully; and I just loved seeing the parallels and wide divergences with my own story over those years. And, you did well to condense such a colourful canvas into a very entertaining and readably human story; therefore, in spite of at least one spelling glitch, I quickly passed by, six again from me! Yes! I am glad for my adventures, few, even me would actually consciously choose, and so grateful to feel to have risen through them fit, healthy and very to share my continuing journey and still unfurling sense of greater purpose on FanStory.
Oh! Yes! There it is, you `finally through (threw) your hands up in despair'. I was looking for a particularly outstanding sentence, but as you write and have lived so many. Thanks, keep writing, and I pray God will kindly prepare for your passing, and you'll smile together and bless the world that has grown so much along with your laughter, learning, and difficulty transcending love. Thanks, and hugs, Aussie, a great read, Maureen*&*

Hello Fellow Grey Nomad, Thanks for dropping in and the long and interesting review. We may have trod the boards for a long time, didn't we have fun! Love, Kay.

Yes! Fun, courage, and looking at our anchors, especially mothers, a great privilege to be part of these times: and I think responsibility too! Happy travelling and blessing all with your laughter and spirit, Maureen*&*

Your life has been full of many ups and downs, dear Kay, but you are a survivor and that is a tribute to both you and me. I am only familiar with your writing but I am sure you express all your talents with the force of a useful life. Scuba diving is a lot of fun and I have heard that the Great Barrier reef is fabulous. Best wishes and love - Alan

Love your line, be glad for all your adventures. I enjoyed reading your story, memoires are my favorite form of writing to read. You have had an interesting life and you were not afraid to try different things. I can relate to many parts of your life story, I am an animal lover too. I encourage your plans for scuba diving and sailing.

Wow Kaye that certainly is quite a story. It is lovely to get to know FS friends this way.
I do have a couple of suggestions.
There area several places where line spaces are needed. I suspect this is probably because although you had them in your original doc. when you posted it, it did not accept them all.
I have pointed out several of them, but feel sure you will make the changes elsewhere in order for ease of reading.
My father didn't see me until I was three months old and bald as a badger! (line space needed here.) or I suggest re-wording to something a little tighter.
eg.
I was just three months old and as bald as a badger when my father first saw me.
Black-outs were common. (line space also needed here.)
Growing up in (Sydney) Perhaps use 'the city' or 'there' (since you have used Sydney twice in the preceding sentences.
outside dunny. (line space here.)
Those are just a few spots I saw line spaces. If you like I can send you an im with each spot. Please let me know.
Thanks for sharing my friend.

Dear Aussie,
You have certainly lived a eventful life-full of twists and turns. From marrying a man to living with a woman. From winning a pile of money to losing it after some wild spending. Bravo to you since you seemed to have embraced life.
Watch repetition. This could also be tightened. Here is a suggested edit for this section.
The Australian Gov. granted us a War Service Home in the western suburbs of Sydney. Growing up there during the fifties was a blast because life was simple. We had none of those fancy electrical gadgets we have today. If we lost power, which was often, dad had a huge Hurricane lamp that lit the living areas. Blackouts were common.
We had no refrigeration. The iceman delivered a block of ice every week for our meat keeper. The ice sat below the meat, and the flies couldn't get past the fly wire door.
Soft drinks? No, we didn't have canned, fizzy (you call them sodas) drinks like Coca-Cola. That arrived in the sixties. When Coke arrived it was widely consumed even at six pence a bottle!
Warm regards,
Winslow

This is an amazing piece of writing and an incredible story. I for one am glad that the newbie made the request and you complied. You presented with great details when describing those who have been part of your life, whether in a loving adventure or part of a nightmare. You have lived and survived so much but have also been strong for many and more to come. I wish for you to be able to complete the two challenges on your bucket list. I wish you peace and comfort. Great writing, great honestly, fantastic reading. Good job, thank you.

I have enjoyed reading your story Kay. I have an aversion to story writing too...I simply don't have the patience, I write poetry quickly and I think I can say a lot with a little! It was a lifetime in large chunks, there's obviously lots in between but anyway it is bravely done, you sound like a gutsy lady, and have had a chequered life. You didn't really share your testimony, I would like to hear it one day. Well done, I'm glad you shared this, blessings, Roy
