something old somehow never ending new
something borrowed
now somehow

just broken bits of brightness ... Michael, I love these lines, particularly 'broken bits of brightness.'

I've probably said this before ... I find your style perplexing and invigorating at the same time!

Happy New Year.

Smiles,

Sonali :)

Ahhh. . .I see, you too
have been drifting
sifting, perhaps
through memories

shooting stars that grounded
burned up in the atmosphere. . .

shattered scattered remnants
still holding
a glimmer of light

still shining brightly

......kaleidoscopic
......collages

......preserved
......behind cellophane
......pages.

-smile-....yea. I was listening to Streisand and fingering lingering...meeeeomorieeees in the corners of my minnnnnd...misty water colored meeeeemorieeees of the way we weeeere. Hey Leinko let me ask you something...don't I ever rate a six with you....-headtilt-...throw a dog a bone once in awhile will ya...love you Michael

;-) Ask around. . .I'm not all that generous with my sixes. . .I honestly
try to make the 6th star

(6 stars) = EXCEPTIONAL. I would buy this book. Excellent
all around writing - both content and construction captivated
me thoroughly. I found this piece worthy of consideration for
    publishing. Truly

meaningful and representative of BOTH emotional impact and
    compelling communication.

On the other hand. . .it doesn't seem that long ago I DID award you
a six - for another poem about memories and keepsakes. . .something
with "good byes can't be heard", or "goodbyes never heard".

I DO enjoy your often cryptic, often thought provoking, poetry
very much. . .but a lot of times it's like trying to articulate what I love
about Leonard Cohen's work. . .or even what it translates to. . .I
simply don't know how to put into words why it moves me.

    . . .I guess that's just a small part of the curse of being human. . .
    . . . . . . .ya wanna. . .ya wish you could. . .but the tools allude you.

    love ya back - L

The stars may fade, yet, the still remain as memories we cherish and enjoy again. So enjoy your writings, beautifully stated that evoke emotions.

Blessings, Jo

I relished your reference to "oysters" and their pearls and the "something old/new" expression. There's a poignancy throughout your poem, and I admired the circularity of the first and last stanzas. Warm regards- Joan

It is always with fascination and a touch of awe that I read your poetry, Michael. You have a most unusual style and I think a very keen artistic sense that allows you to combine words in such a unique way... and in the process, create a piece of art that is emotional more than it is logical. The sounds of the words, when a poem is read aloud, is what makes it beautiful for me, and here you have assonance, consonance and internal rhyme, as well as alliteration going on all through the poem, plus a melodic meter that holds it together like a song. The result is something that creates a very definite feeling... in this case a feeling of sadness. I wonder if you could be implying that the dreams and starlight full of promises became broken bits of brightness... "Memories sugar" implies there are possibly sweet memories remaining among the broken shards. I'm not sure why this makes me feel so sad, but your poetry is always emotional. (Now you are no doubt laughing at me, but I had to tell you what I feel.) Thank you for sharing your creative talent with us. It is always a treat to read your posts.

There is nothing greater than love when it is fresh and new. Perhaps the only thing better is love that spans the years and lasts past the first rush of emotion.

And now they are gone....I enjoyed reading your poem, unusual with repetition, interesting though. Thank you for sharing, Ella
