Not only do I not know or understand all the forms of poetry, I am unfamiliar with most of the famous, and not so famous, poets. I guess I still have time to learn. I read your poem than your amazing notes which made me go back and re-read the poem. You are a terrific poet and while I am not qualified to critique the form, I do know what I like, and I like your style or writing. Your addition of author's notes is so informative and is slowly filling the gap in my knowledge of poets and poetry. Lovely work with this one. It flows so smoothly and creates vivid imagery as it is read.

You have just described my entire intention with this book. I feel like we all have our unique voice and that Poets (and all writers) have made a huge impact on society. I like to share what I've learned through the author's notes and I love to try different styles. I'm pretty much what you'd call self-taught when it comes to poetry, so emulation of the famous poets has helped me to learn the craft. I have some fantastic reviewers that steer me in the right direction. The rest is just instinct.
When it comes to reviews, poets are thrilled to hear just what you've written here. You read the poem, then the notes, then re-read the poem. You don't have to be worried about being qualified to critique the form, there are those on site that will. Your sincere reaction is priceless, in terms of us learning what appeals to the readers. I'm happy that you enjoyed this one. I chose Blake because the diversity in his style of writing reminded me of exactly what I like to do, in terms of trying new styles and emulating the masters.
Thanks for the wonderful comments.

Quite interesting notes, and very nice tribute to William Blake. I don't believe I've ever read him. I remember Yeats, and Byron...my favorites. I read very little poetry...I need to correct that!!! Really liked this, blessings...

Hi Irish,
I'm glad then, that I've had the opportunity to introduce you to William Blake. He wrote in diverse styles, that is one of the most interesting things I discovered about him. I'm spending the month exploring different poets and hoping to share them with all of my readers. I hope you'll continue to follow along. Thank you for the lovely review.

Poem about William Blake. Like Blake myself. The rhyme and rhythm in this poem added to readability. Word choice is also great. Love this poem. Thanks for sharing.

Very powerful words written
The art work was great as well
The prey and quickness these animals
show us all is frightening they would
catch one very quickly for their feed.

Hi Kim,
I'm not familiar with the poets and their works, so this is really informative for me.
"And what could burn brighter
than a Tyger by candlelight
as a writer
pulls all-nighter
enamored; Blake instills insight" ... love this stanza!
Thanks for sharing your knowledge and Blake's poem with us.
Great work, Kim!

Hi Connie,
I'm happy that you enjoyed this one. I know that I read the Tyger poem a long time ago. He has one about a Lamb, too. He was a really versatile poet. He's the one that got me going on the epigrams, too. I read one of his yesterday and just decided I wasn't done with him yet lol Thanks for the fantastic review.

A very adept entry into your poetry theme for the book!! I am not well versed in the classic writers, poetry was of no interest to me until almost three years ago, and I profess to be self taught with major assistance from poets I admire. Please forgive the lack of critique, but I do love this piece!!

Hi Alf,
Telling me what you like about a poem or what moves you is critique enough. I appreciate knowing that it struck a chord for you and that you enjoyed reading. I'm pretty much self taught, too. I just love to read and emulate. I've learned a lot from others here on Fan Story. Thanks for the wonderful review.

What a wonderful tribute, in a similar form. Well done! Eloquent and unique. Superbly rhymed. Well presented too.
Favorite line:
His wit -- a madman's prodigy.
Good flow. However, I have some optional suggestions for smoother enjambment:
In an epigram(;)
his catalogued apology;
And what could burn brighter
than a Tyger by candlelight,(NO COMMA)
as a writer
*
Ink left for all posterity,(;)
allay(s) your fear,
may shed a tear,(--)
his work brought me such clarity.
What great rhymes, dear. Bravo!
Love,
rd

Thank you for your excellent note explaining what is transpiring here. It leaves me with one query. You have faithfully followed Blake's syllable count in all but the first lines to his stanzas which, in the original run 6 - 5 - 6 - 5, while yours run 5 -5 - 5 - 6 thus setting a different rhythmic pattern to the whole. It would not be hard to emulate the original precisely. Might I suggest:
S1. Who is [this] Blake to Thee?
S3.And what [could] burn(s) brighter
S4.His voice we ('re meant to) must hear!
Just a thought.

A very well-written poem to honor the poet William Blake. I haven't hear of him before as far as my knowledge or memory allows me. Many poets write poems through the night when all is quiet.
